Step 1

Preheat oven to 425°F. Place butter in an 8-by-8-inch baking dish and melt in oven, 5 to 6 minutes. Stir in lemon zest and juice, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Season salmon with salt and pepper and place, skin side down, on top of butter mixture. Bake until salmon is just cooked through, 7 to 9 minutes.
