Can Opener · 4 years ago Cat loved old formula & also loves the new My girl has some serious health issues and takes prednisone daily to reduce inflammation. I only feed her the pates because they are grain free (which she must have). She loves the taste & I love how low carb it is. I appreciate the new formula not because it removed carrageenan (nothing wrong with it) but because it removed much of the plant matter. Cat’s don’t need fruits & veggies; people do. Also love the 12.5 oz cans. They make this food affordable for me. I feed her the turkey flavor because I believe the dark meat is more nutritious. I am so torn- my 6 month old kitten has been raised Since we got her from the breeder. More than once I have found pieces of metal in the food I am blown away that this is happening. I find the smell and texture to be very friendly and appetizing when I open the can. A feral kitten became a member of the family and my Vet neighbor told me if you love them you won't feed them cheap food. I thought Friskies was fine, she said "NOT AT ALL NUTRITIOUS!" My cat is very healthy naturally which is partly due to the fact we fed him and his 4 other feral siblings from the beginning in early 2018. He isn't finicky so I can't speak to that for those with cats as such. But when my Vet says the ingredients in Wellness are all good here for healthy & balanced nutrition then I am satisfied and so is Rover, my cat! I switched him to that from Nutro which is also a good quality food. I like the larger 12.5 oz cans. Econmical and quality and I get two days out of a can for him. He loves all the flavors and he has been eating it for about 5 months steady for morning and night meals, always happy to eat it. he also gets healthy snacks but each meal he eats every bite of the Wellness without hesitation. He's 90% indoor cat and his Vet checkup came back very healthy. Coat is beautiful, teeth stay clean eating this, breath is good, stools are excellent, urine is without issue, healthy!Lastly, Rover's feral cat mother had ANOTHER litter this year in my back yard and 3 of the four kittens have taken up residency outside but they are very happy and safe here. They love the Wellness! 2 months ago when they started coming near the patio nearly begging for help, really made me sad they were so malnourished! They were very weak, smaller than average bags of fur and bones, really sad actually. Weak and appeared unstable each of them. But now, 2 months later, on Wellness they are growing, healthy, full of energy, active, playful and very thankful. By all accounts very healthy and vibrant kittens. They look so healthy and the Vet agrees. Wellness is a great savior for these 3 little girls plus Rover. My cats used to eat the canned pate non fish only and I Just bought a few tins of our regular flavour and they completely turned their nose up at it. did something change? I've never notice it being called smooth loaf before but maybe it always was. Anyway they won't eat it so I will have to find another brand for them. They really didn't have any issues until this tin I just bought. they didn't like the fish flavours so I stopped buying those long ago but now they won't eat these ones either! Peanut · 3 years ago Wellness pate has helped my cat's constipation My vet told me that the old cat food I was buying from the supermarket was the equivalent of buying food at the 7-Eleven. I switched to this range of pates (my Siamese only likes the smooth wet food) and almost instantly she was pooping so much easier. I sometimes add half a teaspoon of olive oil too just to keep things moving along. She loves every flavor in this range and it's a relief to have stopped the trial-and-error-and-waste cycle to find something she liked. It's a little more expensive but so worth it. Unfortunately, about 3 to 4 months ago he started getting diarrhea every day. I took him to the vet and spent a fortune trying to figure out what was wrong with him but he came back with a clean bill of health. I started to wonder if we got a bad batch of food or whether the formula had changed. Based on other similar reviews here I have my answer: the formula was changed and not for the better. It’s such a shame because he used to gobble up this food. Please bring back the old formula. There is definitely a pattern of kitties suddenly having gastrointestinal problems after the change. I drove far and wide for the Old Labels just to make sure my 8 yr old cat would not have these challenges. And now, can't find the old label..So am now stuck buying the Turkey Pate with the New label and she is having a loose stool. WE all know something is wrong with your new recipe and wish you'd bring back the OLD recipe. Why fix something that was NOT broken.
