Step 1

Add the butter to the milk and pop the container in the microwave on a high heat until the butter is melted. Mix well.

Step 2

Meanwhile, in a large bowl mix the flour, salt and baking powder together.

Step 3

Add the melted butter and milk to the flour mixture and combine to form a dough. Be careful, the dough may feel hot because of the butter.

Step 4

Sprinkle the work surface with flour then knead for a few minutes until the dough is smooth. Form into a ball and wrap in cling film. Let the dough rest for at least 30 minutes or up to an hour at room temperature.

Step 5

After it’s rested, place the dough onto a floured work surface and cut it into four equal pieces. Take each piece, roll it into a ball. Flatten with your hand, and then using a rolling pin, roll out into rounds to your desired size - I aim for one that will fit into my frying pan.

Step 6

Heat a non-stick frying pan until it’s very hot. Carefully place one flatbread into the pan. After about a minute or so, bubble spots will start rising. Press down on the bubbles with a fish slice and then flip over and do the same on the other side. Once done, place on a plate and keep covered with a tea towel to keep the flatbreads soft.

Step 7

Repeat the same with the remaining pieces.
