Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Drain excess fat.

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk, stirring until smooth.
Step 4
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom. Spread half of the ground beef mixture over the potatoes, then pour half of the soup mixture over the beef. Sprinkle with half of the cheese. Repeat layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and cheese.
Step 5
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 6
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
