If you don&#39;t have buttermilk on hand, or can&#39;t easily access it, you can make an easy homemade substitute that works great in baked goods!

Homemade Buttermilk

milk

tbsp white vinegar (lemon juice okay too)

Place 1 cup of milk in a bowl/cup, and remove 1 tablespoon of it (see note 1).

Add in 1 tablespoon of vinegar to the milk and mix it together. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

Your milk should now look curdled and is ready to use as buttermilk.

If you’re in a pinch and don’t have buttermilk on hand, or can’t easily access it, you can make a great buttermilk substitute right at home.
