Step 1
Add soy lecithin granules or liquid to vegetable glycerin and set asideUsing a double boiler or a pot on top of a pot of boiling water, melt the mango butter and beeswax until fully combined. Put in the fridge for 30 minutes or let come to room temperatureIf you’re using liquid soy lecithin or have let your lecithin granules sit for a week, skip this step. If you only let your lecithin granules sit for 30 minutes or so- you’ll need to blend them with an immersion blender. Simply use your immersion blender on the high setting in the glycerin until all granules are dissolved. If you prefer you can also use the immersion blender to mix in the mango butter beeswax mixture and skip the next step, but that is up to youUsing your hand mixer, start whipping the mango butter and beeswax mixture. While whipping, gradually pour in the glycerin, and mix until fully combined. If you are adding acacia powder or essential oils, add them while mixingStore in an airtight container in a dark dry place and use to moisturize! A little really goes a long way with this moisturizer- if you’re using too much it will feel sticky

Leslie says May 4, 2016 at 2:56 pm I’d love to try this! I wonder if it would break me out because I have really sensitive skin. I’ve pinned this recipe to give it a try, if all else fails and i am allergic to something init I could always give it to mom. Reply Susie says May 6, 2016 at 10:06 pm It’s always worth testing! Everyone’s skin is different and will react differently. My skin, which is pretty acne-prone, is doing great on this moisturizer. Reply Katie says May 10, 2016 at 7:11 pm Really neat – I need to moisturize year round and have ALWAYS wanted to try making my own – thanks for this recipe, I may try it this summer! Found you at Tips and Tricks! :) Reply Sharlene says March 17, 2017 at 11:53 am Hi, I would love to try this with the soy lecithin. If I’m correct, you’re using the soy lecithin so that the oils mix seemless with the glycerin correct? Thank you so much. Reply Susie says March 20, 2017 at 2:29 pm Yes, that’s correct. Without it the two will not mix. Reply Alexia says April 18, 2017 at 10:01 am What’s the shelf life on this? I can’t wait to try it! Reply Susie says April 20, 2017 at 11:55 am About 3-4 months Reply Paula Wilcox says February 10, 2018 at 7:13 pm Can I substitute the Soy Lecithin for another emulsifier? What would be a substitute? Thanks Reply Susie says February 22, 2018 at 2:47 pm You could use emulsifying wax, but it’s less of a natural ingredient. Reply Brooke cowley says June 4, 2018 at 2:08 am I think I did something wrong – it is thicker but not a cream consistency – more liquid and it feels very very oily. Was it half a cup of glycerin?? Reply Susie says December 4, 2018 at 8:31 pm The recipe calls for 1/2 cup of glycerin but you can try to adjust the ratios and see if the consistency works out better. Glycerin can feel a bit sticky but is a great moisturizer. Reply
