Remove insides of bread boule and reserve for another use. Spread olive salad over cut side of bottom half of bread.

On the bottom half of the bread, layer mortadella, soppressata, salami, coppa, cheese, Peppadews, and arugula. Sandwich top half of bread over meats and cheese. Wrap the sandwich in plastic wrap and weigh down with a cast-iron skillet or two large cans of tomatoes and place in the refrigerator overnight.

Remove sandwich from refrigerator, cut into wedges, and serve.

A true New Orleans Muffaletta has  ham, salami, mortadella, swiss, provolone and a marinated olive salad with Kalamata and green olives and other pickled veggies.  The bread should be a Sicilian style loaf with sesame seeds. 
How about a recipe that shows how to make the olive salad?

This is delicious!  Thank you Martha.  (And to CKL1955699, dmcshan2, and nicanesa: Watch the video again.  Martha never said her version is the same as the one at Central Grocery.  She provided the name of the inventor and how he came up with the idea, just to give credit where credit is due.  And as for her version not being “a true Central Grocery Muffaletta”, that’s why in the video that she was kind enough to share, while naming her ingredients, she said (at 3:20), “You can really make up your own mix.”  And at 3:51, she said, “every Muffaletta is a little different than every other”, which is inarguable.  Her version is different from the way I make mine, and both are different from Central Grocery’s version that some of the proud New Orleans folk like.  (Oh, and by the way, if a native of New Orleans would run a person out of the city for offering them the food they made, they would deserve go hungry for having an overly critical, unfriendly and ungrateful attitude.) Arugula on a muffaletta...the only greens on a muffaletta are da olives, dawlin'! Subtract the arugula and add a little Blue Plate and this sandwich sounds heavenly.

I am a native new orleanian and this is not a muffaletta. She used the wrong bread, meats and cheeses. Also the olive salad is not how central grocery makes it.  Martha's "po-boy" is not a Po-boy it is a lobster roll from the northeast she just exchanged the lobsters for oysters. Please if you are going to highlight New Orleans food on your show please use authentic recipes.

I'm a native New Orleanian, and trust me, Martha's instructions are not for a true Central Grocery muffeleta.  The bread is wrong, as are the cheese, meat and olive salad.  

Also, her instructions for an oyster poor boy are incorrect.  She'd be run out of the city if she offered that to a native New Orleanian!
