For the filling: Prepare and chop all the vegetables. In a large pan

heat the canola oil over medium heat. Add the onions

Rolling the cabbage: Take one cabbage leaf and place 1 tablespoon of filling near the base. Fold in the sides and roll tightly from the base to form a neat roll. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.

Cooking the cabbage with the filling: Place the rolls snugly in a large pot (layer them if needed). Fill the pot with water just above the top layer of rolls. Cover the pot and simmer the rolls on low heat for 3.5–4 hours
