Step 1
Add two tablespoons of butter to a skillet and add your diced onion. Cook low and slow so the onions caramelize. I add black pepper. My onions took about 20 mninutes, stirring occasionally. At the end I add the soy sauce and let the onions cook for about 5 more minutes. Remove the onions from the pan and set aside.
Step 2
In the same pan, add your ground beef, cook until meat is fully cooked and no longer pink. Make sure you break up the meat into a fine crumble. I use my ground meat chopper tool. Add your can of sloppy joe sauce, bring to a simmer and cook on low for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Meanwhile, cut your lids off your dinner rolls , cut across the center leaving the rolls and lids to the rolls attached, best you can.
Step 4
Spread the mustard on both the base and the underside of the lids of the buns. These will have a tangy mustard taste, if you would like to omit this step, you can. I use half dijon mustard and half spicy brown mustard. Spray a baking dish with non stick spray, add the base of your buns to the dish. Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Step 5
When the meat has cooked and absorbed the sauce, add the ground meat to the base of the buns. Make sure you cover the whole sheet of bun bottoms with the ground meat mixture. Use all the meat.
Step 6
Top the meat with almost all of the caramelized onions, reserving about 2 tablespoons of the onions for something else. Add the pickle relish to the top of the meat making sure to get some on each "slider".
Step 7
Add the cheese to the top of the meat mixture, and place the lids to the buns on top.
Step 8
Add the remaining butter, garlic powder, and parsley to the bowl with the onions and miscrowave until the butter is melted. Brush this all over the bun tops, make sure to get in the crevices.
Step 9
Cover the pan with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then uncover, bake twn more minutes until they are golden brown. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing into the 12 sliders. *all ovens vary, just make sure your cheese is melted and the tops of the buns are golden brown before removing from oven.
