This tender and flaky chili lime tilapia is cooked to perfection in the air fryer or oven in under 15 minutes, for a quick and easy weeknight meal. Enjoy in tacos, burrito bowls, salads, or on its own!

Chili Lime Tilapia in the Air Fryer or Oven (Paleo, Whole30, Keto)

oz tilapia fillets (6-8 oz each)

tsp chili powder

tsp cumin

garlic powder

oregano

tsp sea salt

tsp black pepper

If your air fryer needs preheating, preheat to 400 degrees F. Grease the air fryer basket or tray with your favorite cooking oil.

Pat dry the tilapia fillets with a paper towel.

In a small bowl, combine all the spices, except lime juice, and stir together.

Press the spice mix into the fish on all sides.

Cook the fish in the air fryer without touching each other for 8-10 minutes, until opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Drizzle with lime juice and serve immediately.

Air Fryer Method

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and grease a baking sheet with your favorite cooking oil.

Place the fish on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, until opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Wash and pat dry the fish. Set aside. Mix and prepare the seasoning in a separate bowl. Set aside.Prepare the eggs and water mixture in a different bowl. Set aside.

To bread, place the fish in the flour mixture. Then in the egg mixture. After, transfer the fish back to the flour mixture and coat well on all sides. Spray the basket lightly with cooking oil, then place the fish in the air fryer basket. Spray the fish with cooking oil and cook in the air fryer for 12 minutes on 400 degrees or longer depending on the air fryer you have. Air Fryer Tilapia

Air Fryer Tilapia is a delicious, fast, and juicy meal. This recipe uses a simple seasoning, but is full of flavor. A perfect weeknight dinner your entire family will love. 

Tilapia Filets (about 6 ounces each)

To make this air fryer fish recipe, begin by lightly rinsing and then pat each piece of fish dry with paper towels, then set aside. 

In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir together to combine. Brush each filet with olive oil on both sides, or use olive oil spray, and then sprinkle to coat with seasoning mixture.

In a single layer, without overlapping, place tilapia in air fryer basket, without overlapping. Air Fry at cooking temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, for 5-6 minutes, until golden brown.

Additional cook time may be needed as cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of fish.

In a small bowl whisk together the melted butter, olive oil, garlic and cajun seasoning. Spread evenly over the fish.

Place the fish in the basket of the air fryer. Cook at 290 degrees for 5 minutes.  Flip the fish and cook for 3-4 minutes more or until flaky and opaque.

Air Fryer Tilapia (Frozen or Fresh Fish Fillets!)

Prep

Mist your air fryer trays or basket with the cooking spray. Put your tilapia fillets on the prepared racks in a single layer and brush them with the olive oil.

Cook

Air fry the tilapia at 400°F (200°C) for 8 minutes. While the tilapia cooks, work on the compound butter.

Chop the garlic chives as finely as possible. Mix the softened butter, miso, and chives together. Refrigerate this mixture to let it firm up (if time allows).

Flip

After the 8 minutes of cooking are up, flip the fish and switch the position of the racks in the air fryer. If using fresh fish, cook for 4 more minutes at 400°F (200°C). If using frozen fish, cook for 6 more minutes at 400°F (200°C).

Check

Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature in the thickest part of the fish. Fin fish should reach a minimum safe internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Assemble

To serve, put 1 tablespoon of your garlic chive miso butter on each fish fillet. Finish your fish with a sprinkle of black pepper and a squeeze of lemon, if desired.

Air Fryer Tilapia Fish (Use Frozen or Fresh Fish!)

Get ready for a flavorful fish with our Air Fryer Tilapia! It&#039;s perfectly seasoned, cooked to flaky excellence, and topped with a zingy lemon-caper sauce.

cooking spray, (to grease the air fryer basket)

salted butter

garlic, (minced)

lemon juice

Preheat the air fryer to 415˚F and spray the basket of your air fryer with cooking spray.

Whisk together the sea salt, garlic powder, and ground black pepper and set aside.

Drizzle the olive oil over the tilapia and massage it into the fish, coating it evenly.

Arrange the tilapia fillets in the basket with at least ½ inch of space between each fillet. If the basket is too small, cook the fish in batches.

Sprinkle half of the seasoning over the fillets. Flip, and sprinkle with the other half of the seasoning.

Air fry for 6 minutes; flip the fish halfway through the cooking time.

For the tilapia

Meanwhile, make the sauce and start by melting the butter in a saucepan set over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté for about 15 seconds or until fragrant.

Whisk in the lemon juice to combine, then stir in the capers. Remove from heat.

Remove the tilapia from the air fryer and arrange the fillets on a serving platter.

Spoon the sauce over the cooked tilapia and serve.

My Air Fryer Tilapia is a delicious and healthy weeknight dinner that the whole family will love!  Made with just a handful of simple ingredients, this is a great recipe for busy weeknights and can be made in 15 minutes!  This easy fish recipe is low carb and keto too.

Air Fryer Tilapia (Fresh or Frozen)

Make the spice rub by mixing the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.

Brush the tilapia fillets with olive oil.  Sprinkle the spice rub evenly over the fish.

Preheat the air fryer to 380°F. Spray or brush the basket of your air fryer with a little oil.  Place the tilapia in the basket in a single layer (depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the tilapia in batches).

Cook for 8-10 minutes until fish is opaque and cooked through.  Plate the tilapia and garnish with parsley and a nice squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

To cook frozen tilapia, first rinse it under cold water to remove any frost or ice. Then pat it dry with paper towels. Then brush the tilapia with oil and sprinkle on your spices as per the recipe instructions. The cooking time will be longer for frozen tilapia compared to fresh fillets.  Cook frozen tilapia in the air fryer about 12-13 minutes at 380°F until cooked through.  If it seems like it&#39;s getting dark on the outside too quickly, turn the temperature down to 350°F or 360°F.
