Preheat the oven to 350ºF and lightly grease a 11&#8243;x7&#8243; baking dish, (4-5&#8243; deep).

Whisk together the almond flour, tapioca starch, cinnamon, sea salt, baking powder, and baking soda until no lumps remain. Stir in the lemon zest, then add the maple syrup, eggs, melted ghee/butter/avocado oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined, then stir in the apples.

Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. In a small bowl stir together the ingredients for the streusel topping until combined. Using your hands, crumble the streusel topping evenly over the cake.

Bake the cake until puffed and toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, or with moist crumbs.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool to room temperature on a cooling rack before frosting it.

For the frosting, start by placing the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook swirling it around the bottom until it smells toasty and has browned, 2-3 minutes, (skip this step if using ghee or avocado oil). Add it to the sifted powdered sugar along with the maple syrup, pinch of salt, and vanilla extract. 

Stir to combine, then drizzle it evenly over the cake. Serve within the first day for the best texture, although we enjoyed this cake for 3 days before it started to be a bit dry.

I love the almond flour in here for flavor purposes but also because it makes it a little bit healthier!

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease 8 inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper, set aside.

To make cinnamon streusel crumb, first  in a bowl, whisk together dry ingredient. Then add melted butter and vanilla and stir until the mixture is evenly moist, set aside, too.

To make the cake in a large bowl, cream together 4 tbsp butter with 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy, then add egg and beat well. Finally, add vanilla and sour cream and beat again.

In another bowl, stir together 1 cup flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder and add to the butter mixture, stir until just combined.

Spread half the batter at the bottom of the pan ( it will be very thin layer). Spread the apple chunks evenly over the batter, then sprinkle about 1 cup of the cinnamon streusel crumbs over the apples. Spread the remaining batter over the crumbs and on top spread the rest of the cinnamon streusel.

Bake 35-40 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.

Before remove the ring of springform pan run a thin knife around the cake.

To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar with apple cider and drizzle over the cake.

I don't have a 8 inch spring pan. Could I use a 9 inch? And do I need to add more ingredients?

I made this cake in a 9 inch springform pan. Instead of layering I put cake batter first then apples next and topped with crumb mixture.  Baked 35 min, came out perfect.  Topped with a salted caramel glaze! So delicious!!

I just assembled this and also found it very difficult to spread the batter (both the bottom and top.) Actually the top was harder since it was over the crumbs. I'm sure it will come out fine, but if it is a hit I am going to try to double the batter next time. Thanks :)

This was the best cake in the world! The only things I added was I used 2 large apples (an apple per layer, because I can't get enough apples!) and I made this cinnamon brown sugar glaze thing by melting 4 tbs of butter and adding the brown sugar and cinnamon to my liking. I just spread this mixture on top of the batter for each layer before adding the apples and crumbs. I found that this helped with spreading the top layer. Also, I added about 1/4-1/2 a cup of buttermilk because I thought my batter looked a bit dry.

Super simple to make and smells heavenly as it bakes. Great texture and flavor. 5 stars!

This cake was amazing!  I took the advice of someone below who said to put more apples (almost one on each layer) and a cinnamon, Sugar, and butter drizzle on each layer (4T butter, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 t cinnamon), and double the batter or it won't be enough to spread. I actually tripled the recipe for a 9x13 pan. It makes a big cake but that's how we like it at my house. It cooked for almost an hour and a half. Amazing!  Make this cake! This was delicious!  Followed the recipe exactly and didn’t have any issues with the amount of batter.  I used a small offset spatula and put the batter on in spoonfuls all over the pan which makes it easier to spread.  Will make3 this again and again.

Absolutely fabulous!! Doubled the crumbs, tripled the batter and subbed ripe pears for apples. I folded the fruit into the dough. Baked in a 13x9 springform pan for 45 minutes couldn’t have turned out better. Will definitely be making this one again.

This recipe is great! I invited friends over for coffee and dessert. This apple crumb cake did not last more then 20 mins. I would however make an extra layer next time to make it thicker.

O.M. G.  I was craving dessert but also wanted to make this for my boyfriend because he LOVES coffee cake and to have something quick for breakfast before work. So I made this tonight so it’s ready tomorrow and I just had to try a slice right after it came out of the oven! I subbed vegan butter and vanilla Greek yogurt and it’s just so rich and moist and soft! I can’t even describe it! I also used vanilla almond milk instead of apple cider vinegar. And it just came out amazing. First time ever making a crumb/coffee cake and this will be my go to recipe! Thank you!!

Just made this and it came out delicious, I didn’t make the drizzle on here I made my own cream cheese drizzle, and added extra apples to the first and second layer! Although it took longer to bake than recommend it took me about 1hr 15 mins.  Either than that I would absolutely recommend this tasty recipe!

The Best Apple Crumb Cake Recipe

all-purpose flour

Grease and flour an 8" round springform pan. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a medium bowl, whisk together both sugars, cinnamon, salt and flour. Add melted butter and fluff with fork until mixtures creates crumbs. Set aside.

to make the topping:

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. In a large measuring cup, mix together milk, vanilla, oil and egg. Whisk until smooth.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon. Do not over mix. Few lumps in the batter are okay.

Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan.

In a medium bowl, toss together apple slices with two tablespoons of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and the apple cider vinegar. Set aside.

Arrange apple slices over the batter.

Sprinkle crumb topping over the apples covering completely.

Bake the cake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.

Let cool completely in the pan.

Transfer onto a serving plate or stand. Slice and serve.

Keep in a covered container for up to 4 days.

This is the BEST cinnamon apple crumb cake recipe! Ultra moist and loaded with warm cinnamon, sweet apples, and a buttery crumb topping. It&#39;s perfect for fall baking and apple picking season!

Preheat the oven to 325 F/ 165 C. Line a square 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper and set it aside.

In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, light brown sugar, cinnamon, and diced butter with a pastry cutter or fork until combined and crumbs form. Set it aside.

Use the large holes of a cheese grater to grate two red apples into a medium bowl.

Squeeze out all of the juice from the apples into the bowl and measure out 1 packed cup (188 grams) of grated apples. Then measure out 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp (130 grams) of the juice from the bowl. Discard any extra juice. Set aside until ready to use.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the oil and dark brown sugar.

Whisk in the eggs, vanilla, grated apples, and apple juice until combined.

Whisk in the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

Spread the crumb mixture evenly over the top of the batter.

Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs on it.

Cool the pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes or until the pan is warm but touchable.

Remove the cake from the pan and allow it to continue cooling on the rack.

To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla extract until smooth. If you want it thinner add more cream. If you want it thicker, add more powdered sugar.

Drizzle the glaze over the cake then cut into 9-16 slices and enjoy!

All-Purpose Flour

White Sugar

Granny Smith Apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced or diced)

All Purpose Flour

Cinnamon

Butter

Caramel Sauce (Optional)

For the streusel, stir together 1.5 cup All Purpose Flour, 1/4 cup White Sugar, 1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar, 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon, and 1 tsp Baking Powder. Using a pastry blender or your hands, mix in 6 Tbsp Butter until the streusel is crumbly and well mixed.

For the crumb topping

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 9x9 pan or a 9-inch springform pan.

In a large bowl for an electric or stand mixer, 1 cup All-Purpose Flour, 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, 1/4 cup White Sugar, 1/2 tsp Baking Soda, 1 tsp Baking Powder, 1/4 tsp Salt, and 1 tsp Cinnamon. Mix at medium speed until combined.

To the flour mixture, add butter 1 tablespoon at a time, not adding the next tablespoon until the previous has been well mixed. Once all butter has been added, mixture will resemble coarse sandy crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup Milk, 2 Eggs and 1 tsp Vanilla Extract until mostly smooth. Turn mixer speed to low and slowly add the wet mixture into batter. Stir to combine, scraping the sides and bottom as needed.

For the Cake

Spread 1/2 the batter into prepared pan. Layer 1/2 of 2 Granny Smith Apples (diced) over the top and sprinkle with a few handfuls of the topping mix. Dollop the rest of the batter and spread it out. The batter may not completely cover the apples and that is fine.

Spread the rest of the apples evenly over the top. Sprinkle the remaining crumb topping. You want a mixture of larger chunks and finer crumbs for the best texture of crumb topping.

Bake 45-55 minutes or until the streusel topping is browned and the center is firm. After cooling, drizzle with CaramelCaramel Sauce if desired.

This is good but my husband felt was lacking flavor. Next time I may substitute the water with apple juice, more cinnamon and some nutmeg.

This was a real hit! I have a nut aversion, so instead of mixing the pecans in the batter, I  sprinkled them on top at the end (leaving a corner free of nuts). Instead of sprinkling the brown sugar etc. on top of the apples in the pan, I rolled the apples in the butter mixture in a bowl (including the vanilla). I later rolled the nuts in the same bowl, so that they were coated with this tasty delight, before sprinkling the nuts on top. Worked well! Kept an eye on things during baking, because the nuts brown from the butter so it's a fine line between browning and burning.

This coffee cake recipe seems really delicious, I'll definitely try it for weekend snack. I'll be adding lion's mane mushroom powder for the protein and health boost.

Toast the pecans.

Toast the pecans. In a small skillet over medium heat, toast the pecans, stirring often, until fragrant and lightly golden, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate to cool.

Preheat the oven. 

Preheat the oven to 350°F with a rack in the center position.

Make the crumb topping. 

Make the crumb topping. In the base of a food processor, combine the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, salt, and butter. Pulse until combined and the mixture resembles coarse sand. Transfer to a medium bowl and use your hands to squeeze the mixture together to form large clusters. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Make the cake.

Make the cake batter. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. In a stand mixer or large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla and mix until combined, about 1 minute. Add half of the flour mixture and mix until incorporated. Add the sour cream and milk and mix until combined, then add the remaining flour mixture. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

Prepare the pan.

Grease a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with butter and dust with flour.

Assemble the cake.

Break up the chilled crumb topping with your hands, keeping some dime-size pieces intact. Spread half of the batter in the prepared pan. Top with the chopped apples, gently pressing them into the batter to spread it to the edges. Sprinkle with one-third of the crumb topping. Add the remaining batter, then top with the toasted pecans and remaining crumb topping. Gently press the toppings to ensure the batter reaches the edges.

Bake and cool.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes before serving.

This cake is absolutely delicious! The few non-pie eaters in my family were especially excited for a seasonal apple dessert that wasn't pie, so thanks from them!
