These rich chocolate truffles call for heart-healthy avocado instead of dairy! Only 5 ingredients required.

Dark Chocolate Avocado Truffles

vanilla extract

cocoa powder (, for rolling (optional))

Combine the chocolate, vanilla extract and pinch of salt over a double boiler, and melt until completely smooth. (I just use an oven safe bowl over my small saucepan for this.) Mash the avocado with a fork until no lumps are visible, then stir it into the melted chocolate mixture until smooth and thickened. Place in the fridge to set for 20 minutes, or until slightly firm to the touch.

Once the mixture has been chilled and is slightly firm, use a tablespoon to scoop the chocolate into 12 balls. Place them on a pan lined with parchment paper, and roll the balls between the palms of your hand to create an smooth surface. (Be warned: this can get messy!)

Place the 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder in small bowl, and roll each truffle into the cocoa to coat. Serve at room temperature, but store in the fridge for a lasting shelf life.

Dark%20Chocolate%20Avocado%20Truffles

These dark chocolate avocado truffles are made with avocado instead of heavy cream. They&#039;re rich, creamy and absolutely delicious. Made with just 4 simple ingredients they come together quickly! Gluten-free + vegan.

avocado (about 1 avocado)

chocolate chips (I like Lily's chocolate chips)

sea salt

cocoa powder

Blend

Add avocado and a pinch of sea salt to a food processor and pulse a few times to combine.

Melt chocolate

Melt chocolate chips by placing them in a small microwave-safe bowl and microwaving for 30 seconds. Stir and microwave for another 20 seconds or until all the chocolate chips have melted. (You can also do this with a double boiler).

Pour melted chocolate into food processor with the avocado and pulse until mixture is completely combined and avocado is no longer visible. If you don’t have a food processor you can mash the avocado with a fork and combine with the chocolate until smooth and lump-free.

Chill

Place truffle mixture in the refrigerator to chill for 30 minutes.

Roll

Once the mixture has firmed up a bit, remove from fridge and make the truffles. Scoop mixture with a tablespoon or small cookie scoop and roll into a 1-inch ball. You should get about 20 truffles.

Coat

Fill a shallow bowl with cocoa powder and roll each truffle until coated. Place on parchment paper. Store in the fridge until ready to serve.

Great way to have a sweet treat without the sugar. It’s unfortunate that the recipe is not accurate for ingredient amounts. I tried using one avocado as the recipe says. That was a terrible outcome. The chocolate was too runny and I was unable to roll them. I added two more avocados for a total of three with same 1 cup of chocolate chips. It was better but still not able to roll them into balls. I dropped them by tbsp into cocoa powder and tossed them in the powder til they were dry enough to roll into balls. Yielded 34 one inch balls from 3 avocado and I cup chocolate chips. I’d try this recipe again but use only 1/2 cup melted chocolate chips to see if the consistency is better.

These were DELICIOUS! how long do they store in the fridge?

I was looking for a healthier treat and came across these on ZOE. I made them at first and was a bit unsure as they had not chilled yet, however, left them in the freezer overnight and they are SO GOOD. Really impressed.
