Perfect for a family meal, this Baked Rigatoni recipe is simple but delicious! It&#39;s a comforting pasta bake full of rigatoni, a hearty meat sauce, and cheese.

Baked Rigatoni

rigatoni pasta ((450 grams))

olive oil

onion (chopped)

garlic (minced)

beef

sausage ((450 grams))

marinara sauce ((24-ounce 677 grams))

basil

Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper (to taste)

mozzarella cheese ((336 grams))

parmesan cheese ((85 grams))

Basil (for garnish)

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.

Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally until tender, about 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef and sausage. Cook, breaking up the meat while stirring frequently until browned, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the marinara sauce, chopped basil, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the pasta and stir to combine.

Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Spread half of the pasta mixture into the dish. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and half of the parmesan over the pasta. Top with the remaining pasta mixture and mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. Place on a baking sheet to catch any drips.

Bake for 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbly. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with basil, if desired.

Made this dish for my partner and me last night and it turnd out perfectly.  I'll definitely make it again.  Not that we needed anything additional but I made a copy cat Olive Garden salad and a litle garlic bread to complete the meal.  More food than necessary but it meant we ate far less of the baked rigatoni leaving most of it for leftovers.

Easy Baked Rigatoni Recipe

Baked rigatoni with meat sauce and cheese is easy to make and the perfect crowd-pleaser.

pasta sauce (approximately two jars)

Rigatoni pasta (plus ½ cup pasta water

mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 350℉. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

In a large saucepan brown ground beef and onion over medium heat, breaking up the beef as it cooks. Drain any fat.

Add Italian seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper and cook 1 minute.

Add the pasta sauce and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Set aside.

Meanwhile, add rigatoni to the boiling water, and cook just to al dente according to the package directions (it will continue to cook in the oven).

Reserve ½ cup pasta water and drain. Stir pasta water into meat sauce.

Combine pasta and pasta sauce in a saucepan. Lightly grease a 3-quart baking dish, and transfer the pasta mixture.

Cover with a lightly greased piece of foil and bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until heated through.

Uncover and sprinkle with cheese. Bake an additional 10 minutes, until cheese has started to brown.

I doubled the recipe using Italian sausage, and added mushrooms.  Typically my husband doesn't like baked things that he considers "casseroles" but he thoroughly enjoyed this.  I had extra that I assembled in a tin type container and froze it so my son can cook it on his own at a later time.

Simply delicious. Used up my various pastas to make 16oz. Made my own marinara sauce like recipe gives the option to do so. Makes a big lasagne full of delicious, comfort food. Definitely will make again.
