Your family will love&nbsp;this Umami&nbsp;Instant Pot French Dip (Pressure Cooker French Dip Sandwiches)! A mouthful of&nbsp;toasted crusty French Baguette, tender &amp; juicy beef bursting with umami flavors, topped with melted cheese, dipped into the hot beefy Au Jus.

Instant Pot French Dip

Brown Chuck Roast Steak: Heat up Instant Pot using Sauté More function. Wait until it says HOT (~8 mins). Pat dry the chuck roast steak and lightly season one side with salt + black pepper. Drizzle the inner pot with 1 tbsp olive oil. Then, place the seasoned side of chuck roast in Instant Pot. Lightly season the other side with more salt + black pepper.&nbsp;*Pro Tip: Brown each side for 10 minutes to develop some awesome deep flavors.&nbsp;*Note: If you prefer a "Dump-it-all-in" Recipe, you can skip the browning and saute steps.

Saute Onion &amp; Garlic: Set browned chuck roast aside. Add in sliced onions, then saute until softened (~3 - 4 mins). Set aside roughly ⅓ of the softened onions for later. Add in minced garlic, a pinch of dried rosemary, a pinch of thyme, and 2 bay leaves. Saute for another minute.&nbsp;*Pro Tip: Your Instant Pot will stop sauteeing after 30 minutes, turn it back on by pressing "Saute" button. :)

Deglaze Instant Pot: Pour 1 cup unsalted stock in Instant Pot, then deglaze by scrubbing all the flavorful brown bits off the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon.

Pressure Cook Chuck Roast: Add in 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce, 1 tbsp (15ml) fish sauce, and 1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce. Give it a quick mix. Place browned chuck roast back in Instant Pot and partially submerge it into the liquid as best as you can. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 45 minutes + 25 minutes Natural Release.

Simmer Au Jus Sauce &amp; Shred Beef: Set aside chuck roast in a mixing bowl, and shred the beef with 2 forks. While you are shredding the beef, bring Au Jus sauce back to a boil with the &quot;Saute&quot; function. Add in reserved onions, then let the Au Jus sauce reduce for 5 - 10 minutes. Taste &amp; adjust seasoning accordingly. *Pro Tip: Reducing the Au Jus sauce will naturally thicken it. If you find the Au Jus sauce to be too oily, you can use a Fat Separator to filter out the fat.

Assemble &amp; Serve Instant Pot French Dip: Optional Step - While the Au Jus sauce is reducing, preheat oven to 350°F. Layer 1 loaf of french bread with slices of Swiss cheese on top. Place it in the oven until the cheese begins to melt.&nbsp;Layer shredded beef and onions on top of the sandwich. Serve Instant Pot French Dip with savory umami Au Jus sauce on the side. Enjoy~ :)

Super EASY French Dip Sandwiches (aka Beef Dips)...with only 5 ingredients for the beef! These sandwiches have strips of tender beef stewed in an au jus gravy sauce, topped with melted provolone cheese...all on a toasted hoagie roll!

Easy French Dip Sandwiches {Crockpot or Instant Pot Recipe}

brown gravy mix (1 oz. packet)

hoagie rolls, bread rolls

provolone cheese

butter, optional ((for buttering bread rolls))

Place the sliced beef, onion powder, garlic powder, au jus mix, brown gravy mix, and water into the crockpot insert and give it a quick stir.

Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours, or low for 6-8 hours, or until beef is fork tender.

Stir the beef, and add salt and pepper taste (I used 1/2 tsp each).

Serve on toasted hoagie rolls with melted cheese. You can also just serve it on its own, with sides of your choice (like…veggies, bread rolls, rice, potatoes).

Preheat the broiler on HIGH. (You can also bake the rolls, see notes.)

Place open hoagie rolls on a foil-lined baking sheet (butter the inside if desired.)

Broil for about 1-2 minutes, or until insides are lightly browned. (Watch carefully to not burn!)

Remove the tray from the oven. Take the top buns off each roll, remove them from the tray and set aside.

Place beef strips on top of each bottom roll, then top with sliced provolone.

Broil until cheese is melted (about 1 minute). Remove from oven, and place the top bun on.

Serve each beef sandwich with a side of au jus gravy sauce from the crockpot for dipping.

To Make Sandwiches:

These French Dip Sandwiches can be made in the Slow Cooker or the Instant Pot. A super easy dish to prepare starring delicious beef and crusty bread. So tender it might just melt in your mouth!

Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches

crusty rolls (or French baguette)

Tie the meat with kitchen twine if needed. In a small bowl combine the salt, pepper and oregano together. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture liberally and generously over the beef on all sides.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and sear it on all sides until a nice brown crust has formed.

Add the remaining ingredients to your slow cooker and stir. Add the beef and pour some of the liquid over the meat.

Cook on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours or LOW for 4 to 6 hours. The meat will be done when the internal temperature reads 130-135 F degrees for medium-rare or 145 F degrees for medium. My beef was cooked to a medium, if you prefer more rare, check the meat after 2 hours on HIGH, or 4 hours on LOW.

Transfer the meat to a cutting board and cover with foil. Let it rest for about 10 to 15 minutes before slicing into it.

In the meantime, pour the remaining liquid from the slow cooker through a fine mesh strainer. Reserve both the liquid and the onions for sandwiches. Discard the bay leaf.

Slice the beef as thin as you can.&nbsp;

To assemble the sandwiches, slice the rolls in half then pile some beef on the rolls, then top with onions and a slice of Swiss cheese, if preferred. Place the rolls under the broiler, if preferred, for a couple minutes until the cheese melts.

Serve them immediately with the reserved liquid/au jus to dip the sandwiches into.
