beef mince curry

An authentic Indian spiced ground (minced) beef recipe known as Qeema (or keema or kheema). This is a gem of a recipe because it tastes incredible but unlike many Indian dishes, there are no hard-to-find spices in the ingredients. And it&#039;s super fast - on the table in 20 minutes! Recipe very slightly adapted from this Indian Queema Minced Beef by Scrambled Chefs.

Qeema Indian Curried Beef

tbsp oil ((any other than olive oil) (Note 1))

tsp ginger (, finely chopped)

garlic

onion

beef ((mince))

salt ((I use table salt))

tsp garam masala ((Note 3))

cumin powder

coriander powder

turmeric powder

water

tsp red chili flakes

Cilantro/coriander leaves

Heat oil in a skillet over high heat. Add ginger and garlic and saute for 1 minute until fragrant - don't let it burn! Add onion and cook for 1 minute until it is starting to turn translucent.

Add beef and cook, breaking it up as you go, until it changes from pink to light brown. Add remaining ingredients EXCEPT water. Cook until the beef is cooked through - about 2 to 3 minutes.

Add water, give it a stir, then put the lid on. Turn heat down to medium and let it simmer for 10 minutes or until most of the water has evaporated.

Garnish with red chilli flakes and cilantro/coriander leaves. Serve with basmati rice or plain white rice - and/or flatbreads!

Ground Beef Curry

lb Ground Beef

Cooking oil

Onion (chopped)

tbsp Garlic (minced)

tbsp Ginger (grated)

Tomatoes paste

Curry powder

tsp Cayenne or sweet paprika (2 tsp to make it spicy)

tsp Garam masala

½ cup Coconut milk (or ¼ cup coconut cream)

Broth or stock (chicken or beef)

Salt

Black pepper

Lemon juice

Cilantro or parsley (chopped)

Saute

In a saute pan or cast-iron skillet, saute onion in the oil over medium heat for two minutes until translucent. Then, add the ground beef and stir on medium high heat until its no longer pink.Pro tip - Cook the onions on medium-low letting them sweat and lightly caramelize. Browning the beef adds a nice caramelization.

Spices

Add the ginger and garlic. Saute for 2 minutes. Then, add the tomato paste, curry powder, cayenne, and garam masala. Saute well for 2 to 3 mins on low until fragrant. Pro tip - Saute these ingredients until a nice aroma comes from the spices.

Water

Next, add the coconut milk and chicken stock. Season with salt, pepper, and add the chopped cilantro or parsley and lemon juice. Bring to a boil. Pro tip - Adding water to the ground beef will prevent lumps during cooking.

Simmer

Once the mixture comes to a boil, lower the heat and cover the pot with a lid. Simmer on medium-low heat for 15 minutes. Pro tip - When cooked, you will see the oil from the recipe float to the top of the curry.

Seasoning

Taste and adjust seasoning and consistency.Pro tip - If you are serving chicken curry with rice, you may want to have some gravy. So, add a little water and bring to a boil. And if you&#39;re serving mince curry with chapati a thicker consistency is preferable.

Serve

Sprinkle with more chopped cilantro before you serve.

Ground Beef Curry If you eat beef you must try this curry - just 20 minutes!

This healthy beef keema recipe is easy to make and so flavourful. Made with lean tender beef, this delicious, creamy, tart curry is great for weeknight meals.

Beef Keema (Mince Curry)

beef mince ((£2.49))

white onion, finely diced ((£0.30))

garlic, finely chopped ((£0.39))

ginger,

coriander, stems finely chopped and leaves torn to serve ((£0.60))

300 g peas ((£1.45/2)=(£0.73))

tomatoes

tbsp rapeseed oil

curry powder

tsp cumin

Salt & Pepper

tbsp flour

beef stock

To a non-stick frying pan, preheat the pan over a high heat and add the rapeseed oil. Once hot, add the beef mince and distribute over the pan. Season with salt and pepper and leave to brown for 5 minutes.

Rotate the mince and leave for a further 5 minutes. The beef fat will have rendered now, making the mince even crispier when you leave it to brown (this is essential to build the best flavour).

Remove the mince from the pan, leaving the rendered fat in the pan. Break the mince into small browned pieces.

To the pan, reduce the heat to medium and add the onion, garlic, ginger and coriander stems. Season with salt and pepper and fry for 4 minutes. Add the spices and flour for the final minute of fry time.

Pour the chopped tomatoes, stock and browned mince back into the pan. Stir to combine and cook covered with a lid over a medium/low heat for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, add the peas and cook for a further 10-15 minutes with the lid off.

Top with fresh coriander and serve with toasted naans.
