Easy Margarita From Scratch

Tequila blanco

triple sec

lime juice

simple syrup (optional, to taste)

salt

lime (for garnish)

Place kosher salt on a small plate. Run a slice of lime all the way around the rim of a lowball glass, then dip rim in kosher salt.  Fill glass with ice and set aside.

Add all ingredients except for salt to a  cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Shake vigourously to fully combine and chill.  Strain margarita into prepared glass.  Garnish with a slice of lime if desired.

This blue margarita recipe is brilliantly colored with Blue Curacao liqueur! It's refreshingly sweet tart and always impresses. 

Perfect Blue Margarita

ounces* tequila reposado (or substitute tequila blanco)*

blue curacao

Ice, for serving (try clear ice)

For the garnish: Lime wedge

Cut a notch in a lime wedge, then run the lime around the rim of a glass. Dip the edge of the rim into a plate of salt (or for a festive look, use our Margarita Salt).

Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and add 4 ice cubes. Shake until cold.

Strain the margarita into the glass with the salted rim. Fill the glass with ice and serve.

{optional} margarita salt (for rim of the glass)

silver tequila

blue curaçao

orange liqueur (such as triple sec)

lime wedge or orange peel (for garnish)

{Optional} Spread coarse salt on a plate.  Dip rim of 2 margarita glasses in water and then into salt.  Set glasses aside.  (Note: Feel free to fill glasses with fresh ice if you prefer.)

Using a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine tequila, blue curacao, lime juice and triple sec.  Shake or stir well and pour into prepared glasses.

Garnish each cocktail glass with a lime wedge or an orange peel before serving.
