How To Make a Salt Scrub

salt

oil (jojoba, olive, avocado

preferred essential oils

tbsp add-ins i.e. coffee grinds, almond meal, herbs etc..

Mix together sea salt and carrier oil until well combined.

Add in essential oils until desired scent reached (10-20 drops) and any optional add-ins.

Store in a sealed jar in a cool location until ready for use.

When using: scoop out desired amount and scrub onto clean, damp skin. Wash off completely.

Sugar scrubs are fantastic for exfoliating and moisturizing the skin. This simple sugar scrub recipe uses only three natural ingredients; sugar, coconut oil, and essential oils. This scrub makes for a great gift for birthdays, baby shower, or holiday gift. Just store the scrub in a pretty jar and add a label!

DIY Sugar Scrub Recipe + Variations 

white sugar, brown sugar, or coconut sugar

carrier oil (I used coconut oil)

essential oils

dry herbs (optional)

tsp vitamin e oil (optional)

organic brown sugar

coconut oil, melted

vanilla essential oil vanilla extract

brown sugar

white sugar

pumpkin oil

cinnamon

nutmeg

ginger

clove

organic cane sugar

lavender essential oil

lavender buds

Start by mixing the sugar with 1/4 cup of oil. Then, use a whisk or food processor to mix the sugar and oil together. If the scrub is dry, add more oil until the scrub holds together and isn&#8217;t too dry or too oily.

Then, add in the essential oils. I like to start with 10-15 drops, stir well and smell the scrub. Then, if it needs more, I&#8217;ll add more, five drops at a time, until I reach the fragrance I&#8217;m trying to achieve. 

If you&#8217;re adding in an antioxidant or preservative, now is the time to add it. If you are using a preservative, please use proper gloves and protective gear.

For a creamier sugar scrub consistency, run the mixture through a food processor until it&#8217;s whipped and creamy.

Scoop the sugar scrub out of the bowl and into storage jars. Label each jar with the fragrance title and date created. Store the scrubs in a cool dark place.

Use 1-2 tablespoons of the sugar scrub to exfoliate your skin.

Rub gently in a circular motion to massage and rub into your skin.

Rinse off thoroughly with warm or hot water in the shower. You may want to use a drain catcher to collect herbs from going down the drain.

Thank you for the recipes! I have noticed that most of them follow a 1 cup of sugar to 1/4 cup coconut oil, but the pumpkin spice one is 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup sugar to 1/4 cup coconut oil. Is that a typo? Should there still be 1 cup of sugar to coconut oil?
