Bunless Burger Recipe (Paleo, Whole30 + Keto)

iceberg lettuce

tomato paste

tbsp white vinegar

tsp mustard

tsp coconut aminos

garlic powder

onion powder

mayo

dill pickle, finely diced

Start by making the sauce. Combine all of the sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix well with a whisk. Refrigerate while you make the burgers.

Form beef into burger patties. You want very thin patties, about 1/4 inch thick. 1 lb of beef will make about 4 of these patties. They will be very large and thin (but will shrink a lot when cooking). Season the patties with salt and pepper on both sides and set aside.

Slice onion as noted and heat a medium skillet over medium-low heat and add 1 tbsp of ghee. Add the onion to cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and caramelized. This should take about 15 minutes and be finished about the same time as the burgers. If they cook to fast or finish early, just simmer on low until the burgers are ready.

Prep the toppings for the burgers as noted. For the buns, cut the iceberg lettuce head into fourths. Cut off the bottom "stem" of each wedge of lettuce.&nbsp;Remove the thick inner pieces, leaving the outer leaves. You'll split these leaves to form your top and bottom "bun".

Cook over medium-high heat on a grill or heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp ghee. Once the ghee is hot and shimmering (or the grill is hot), add the burgers to cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your liking. If using a skillet, you may have to cook burgers in batches, two at a time.

Now, assemble your burgers. Put 1/2 of the lettuce wedge on a plate and add a tomato slice and some pickles at the bottom. Top with a burger patty and spread some sauce over the top. Add on some onions and top with more sauce if desired. Top with the other 1/2 of the lettuce wedge to form a burger. Pick it up with both hands and enjoy!

Oh WOW so good, sorry we used our own hamburger recipe we love, used our favourite things on a burger and sorry we eat a lot smaller portions so no bun just a side of salad

You can make these with anything you wish to put in them!  Easy and delicious every once in awhile!!!

These are amazing, takes some time to figure out how to make them, but well worth the effort.

beer can is too thick or you would need to use more that 1/2 lb per burger.  Could not get the burger to stay together after pulling the can out (carefully) because the walls of the burger are too thin.

Way to big,  and does not stay together well; and where is the beer,  Lol.

Keto Big Mac in a bowl is a low-carb way to enjoy the flavors of a classic burger without the bun. It makes a great make ahead meal so you have a lunch that is easy to grab and go.

Keto Big Mac Bowl

Garlic powder

Salt

Pepper

cheddar cheese

Cabbage (thinly shredded)

Pickle

Mayonnaise

Dill pickle relish

Yellow mustard

White wine vinegar

In a skillet over medium-high heat brown the ground beef. As it cooks add the worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

When it is almost cooked through add the onions and continue cooking until the ground beef is cooked through and the onions are translucent. Drain the grease and set aside.

In the same skillet add a small amount of olive oil and the shredded cabbage. Saute until cabbage is slightly softened. Salt and pepper to taste.

Divide the cabbage between 4 bowls, top each with a 1/4 portion of the ground beef.

Sprinkle each with 1/4 cup of shredded cheese and top with 4 pickle slices each.

Pour the special sauce over each bowl and serve.

In a small bowl whisk together all of the ingredients and set aside.
