Fill a wide mouthed mason jar with vodka. Skewer one slice of apple per skewer and place in vodka. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Boozy Caramel Apples Are A Fall MUST

These apple blondies are so dense and moist with a sweet caramel frosting on top! They're baked with tender cinnamon apples and drizzled with a simple 3 ingredient caramel sauce - all completely gluten and dairy free.

Frosted Caramel Apple Blondies

light brown sugar

tsp cinnamon

(80 grams) pure maple syrup

tbsp Natural SunButter

tbsp coconut cream *the thick cream from a can of coconut milk

(220 grams) powdered sugar

tsp vanilla extract

kosher salt

(125 grams) Natural SunButter

(60 grams) unsweetened apple sauce

(150 grams) light brown sugar, packed

(100 grams) oat flour, certified gluten free

(95 grams) quick oats, certified gluten free

cinnamon

tsp kosher salt

Combine the ingredients in a saucepan and place over medium heat.

Stir and cook for about 5 minutes, or until fragrant and the apples start to become tender.

Transfer the apples to a bowl and reserve the saucepan for the caramel. 

Cinnamon Apples

In that same saucepan (it&#8217;s ok if there are some cinnamon sugar bits in the pot), add the maple syrup, SunButter, and coconut cream.

Place over medium heat and whisk until everything is melted together.

Continue to whisk occasionally and allow the mixture to bubble. Once bubbling, the caramel should start to thicken. 

Remove the caramel once it coats the back of a spoon. Pour it into a heat safe dish and transfer the caramel to the refrigerator to chill while we make the blondies.

Caramel Frosting

Preheat the oven to 350F and grease and line an 8&#215;8 baking sheet with parchment paper. Allow the paper to reach over the sides for easy removal.

In a mixing bowl, stir together the SunButter, apple sauce, and brown sugar.

Once combined, stir in the eggs and vanilla.

Toss in the oat flour, oats, cinnamon, and salt and stir to combine. Then fold in the cinnamon apples.

Transfer to the baking pan and spread the batter evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the center is firm to the touch.

Allow the bars to cool completely before making the frosting. They can be cooled slowly at room temp or sped up in the refrigerator. 

Apple Blondies

Add the room temperature butter and 1 cup of powdered sugar to a mixing bowl. The butter should be soft enough to mix by hand, but an electric mixer can also be used.

Once smooth, mix in the additional cup of powdered sugar followed by the vanilla and salt.

By this time, the caramel should be completely chilled. Spoon half of the caramel into the frosting and mix until smooth.

Spread the frosting on top of the blondies and then drizzle with the excess caramel. Swirl the caramel into the frosting and top with a few pinches of cinnamon (optional).

These delicious Apple Crumb Bars feature a shortbread crust, cinnamon apples, and an oat crumble topping. Finish with a generous drizzle of salted caramel sauce and enjoy every bite of this delicious fall dessert.

Caramel Apple Crumb Bars

⅓ cup old fashioned oats

peeled, thinly sliced apples ((about 3-4 apples))

Preheat oven to 350°, with a rack in the center of the oven. Line an 8x8 baking pan with foil or parchment paper, grease it, and set aside.

Using a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt until combined. Add cubed butter and vanilla and beat until the butter is broken up into small irregular pieces. If necessary, use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour. Once the mixture is crumbly and the butter is the size of pebbles, place in the refrigerator while you prepare the filling.

Crust and topping:

In a separate bowl, combine all ingredients for apple filling. Stir until well combined.

Filling:

Scoop 2 cups (loosely measured, not packed) of the crust/topping and dump it into the baking dish. Use the back of the measuring cup to press the mixture into an even layer to form the crust. Set aside the remaining crumb mixture.

Add the apples on top of the crust. Arrange them in tight layers, overlapping the pieces.

Stir ⅓ cup oats and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon into the reserved crumb mixture. Sprinkle the topping over the apples pressing some of it together to form clumps.

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 25-30 minutes, until the topping is light golden brown and the apples are tender (insert a sharp knife to check). Place pan on a wire rack to cool. Drizzle with caramel sauce. Serve warm, room temperature, or chilled. Top with ice cream and caramel sauce. Note: The bars will cut more neatly if chilled.

Mix brown sugar, butter and shortening in large bowl until smooth and well blended.

Stir in 1 3/4 cups flour, the oats, salt and baking soda until crumbly.  

Reserve 2 cups oat mixture; press remaining oat mixture in ungreased 13x9-inch pan.
