The absolute BEST chicken marinade. Quick, healthy and perfect for grilling or baking chicken. Juicy, flavorful chicken every time!

Chicken Marinade

¾ pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, thighs, or tenders*

garlic

extra virgin olive oil

soy sauce

Worcestershire sauce

thyme

oregano

salt

black pepper

Pound

If making chicken breasts, place them on a cutting board, cover with plastic wrap, and with a meat mallet or rolling pin, pound into an even thickness. (If using tenders or thighs, you can skip the pounding).

Poke

With a fork, poke holes all over the chicken (this will allow the marinade to absorb).

Combine

In a large ziptop bag, combine the garlic, lemon zest and juice, olive oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Seal

Add the chicken. Seal the bag, removing as much excess air as possible.

Squash

“Squish” the bag to coat the chicken, then place the bag on a plate or inside a shallow baking dish to guard against leaks.

Marinate

Marinate the chicken at room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes (the longer the better), or refrigerate for up to 12 hours (I find about 5 to 6 hours is ideal—since this is a small amount of lemon juice, you can push to 24 hours if absolutely necessary). Do not let marinade for longer, or the meat will start to break down. Let the chicken stand at room temperature for 15 minutes prior to cooking.

Preheat

When ready to cook: Preheat your grill to medium high (425 to 450 degrees F) or preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Remove the chicken from the marinade, shaking off any excess.

Grill

To grill: cook chicken over high heat until charred in spots and the internal temperature reaches 160 to 165 degrees F on an instant read thermometer, flipping halfway through, about 8 to 12 minutes total for breasts or thighs or 4 to 8 minutes for tenders. Do not overcook!

Bake

To bake: Arrange the chicken in a single layer in a foil- or parchment-lined baking dish large enough to hold it comfortably without the chicken touching. Bake the chicken until it reaches 160 F to 165 degrees F on an instant read thermometer inserted at the thickest part. Don&#039;t overcook! For breasts you will need about 14 to 16 minutes (for small/medium breasts that are about 6 to 7 ounces), 16 to 20 minutes (for medium/large breasts that are 8 to 10 ounces), or 20 to 25 minutes (for larger breasts). Bake thighs or tenders for 15 to 20 minutes.

Rest

Remove the chicken to a plate and cover. Let rest for at least 5 minutes. Serve!

Easy chicken marinade that uses a combination of olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, parsley, and garlic to make each bite burst with flavor.

Prepare the Marinade - In a medium bowl, vigorously whisk together olive oil, water, lemon juice, mustard, soy sauce, honey, salt, garlic, parsley, black pepper, and lemon zest.

Marinate the Chicken - Add the chicken to a baking dish or large resealable plastic bag. Pour marinade over, cover, and refrigerate. Press out the excess air if using a plastic bag. Marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes and up to 60 minutes—flip over every 15 minutes.

Dry the Chicken - Remove the chicken from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture from the surface. Discard marinade.

Cook the Chicken - Use the desired cooking method, such as grill, pan sear, or bake, and cook to an internal temperature of 160 to 165ºF (71 to 74ºC).Grill: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, about 400 to 450ºF (204 to 232ºC). Clean and grease the grates with oil. Keep one burner off for indirect cooking. Place the chicken on the direct heat side and close the lid. Cook each side until char marks form, about 5 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness. If browning quickly, move the chicken to the indirect heat side to complete cooking.Pan Sear: Set a large cast iron or stainless steel pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add one tablespoon of oil, then add the chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Turn the heat to medium and flip. Cook for about 4 to 6 minutes.Bake: Preheat the oven to 425ºF (218ºC). Add the chicken to a greased foil-lined sheet pan or baking dish. Bake until fully cooked, about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the thickness.

To Serve - Transfer to a cutting board or clean serving platter. Tent with foil for 10 minutes before slicing or serving. Serve with lemon wedges.

Most definitely the Best Quick and Easy Chicken Marinade ever! Great for any kind of chicken, and made from just a few pantry staples! A little tart, a little sweet, a little savory, and of course a lot amazing!

BEST Quick and Easy Chicken Marinade

apple cider vinegar (or red wine vinegar)

Italian seasoning (or Herbs de Provence)

garlic powder

onion powder

Stir together olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice, honey, dijon mustard, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, and pepper.

Combine chicken and marinade in a large resealable bag, press out excess air and seal the bag (alternately you can combine chicken and marinade in a bowl and cover tightly). Chill for 30 minutes.

Bake chicken at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until cooked through and juices run clear OR grilled over medium heat 6-10 minutes on each side until cooked through. *Pro Tip: Allow to cool for five minutes before cutting into the chicken so the juices don&#039;t drain and dry the chicken out.

DELICIOUS! I have made a couple different versions of this and it always comes out so tasty!

Just can’t stop making this! I cut the chicken in chunks and put the marinaded chunks on brochette sticks with apricots and grill it. Family and friends love it!

Most tender and juicy, flavorful baked chicken ever.  My very particular toddler grandchildren loved it, cut bite-size.

This was the most delicious marinade. Made it for company and they loved it, too! It was quick and easy, as well.

For once a marinade with A LOT of flavor. I used the red wine vinegar, will try apple cider next time. And I did have time to marinate for 4hrs. I drizzled some on too as soon as I placed it on the grill before flipping. DELICIOUS!

Love how this recipe does not require brown sugar or balsamic vinegar unlike some of the other "Best" marinades.
