Keep good things coming out of the kitchen all through the weekend with these Black Forest chocolate puddings.

Molten black forest puddings

good-quality dark chocolate, chopped

unsalted butter, chopped

eggs, egg

(75 grams) caster sugar

plain flour, sifted

jar amarena cherries, drained, juice reserved (see note)

Think self-saucing chocolate but oh-so much better – a spongey pudding cooked in a thick chocolatey sauce with surprise pockets of part-melted Daim bars. We recommend serving with lashings of double cream or generous scoops of vanilla ice cream.

self-raising flour

free-range eggs, beaten

You’ll also need…

1.5 litre ovenproof baking dish, greased with butter

Heat the oven to 170°C/150°C fan/gas 3½. In a medium saucepan, gently heat the butter and caster sugar, until the sugar has dissolved into the melted butter. Turn off the heat and add the milk.

Sift the cocoa powder and flour into a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle and pour in the milk mixture and the beaten eggs. Whisk to make a smooth thick batter. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

For the sauce, mix together the cocoa powder and sugar in a small bowl, then pour over the boiling water and stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour the sauce evenly over the top of the cake batter, then press in the Daim pieces. Put the baking dish on a shallow oven tray (to catch any drips and prevent the bottom from overcooking) and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to stand for 5 minutes before serving with cream or ice cream.

Halloween Pudding Cups

1.3 oz packages Oreo Cookies (family size)

milk

3.4 ounces boxes instant chocolate

16 oz frozen whipped topping (thawed)

chocolate syrup OR chocolate fudge ice cream

mini candy pumpkins and Halloween sprinkles

Using an 8 cup food processor, pulse Oreo cookies in batches. Pour crumbs into a medium size bowl and set aside.

Using an electric hand mixer whip together pudding mix and milk on medium speed until beginning to thicken.

Fold in whipped topping using a large spoon or rubber spatula by hand until fully combined. Add 1/2 cup chocolate syrup, fold through. (It&#39;s fine if it looks a little uneven)

To assemble: Arrange (18)  9-ounce cups or containers on a large sheet pan or tray. Add 2 tablespoons cookie crumbs to the bottom of each cup.

Add a scant ¼ cup of whipped pudding mix over crumbs. Repeat with 2  tablespoons of cookie crumbs and the remaining pudding.

Top each cup with 1 tablespoon cookie crumbs. To the reserved crumbs left in the mixing bowl, mix 1/2 cup of remaining chocolate syrup. Stir until moistened. Set moistened crumbs aside and cups into the refrigerator while you decorate the Milano cookies. (this will be the dirt on top)

Use tubes of black cookie icing to decorate the Milano cookies to say “RIP” or &quot;Game Over&quot; or any fun sayings you want. Let dry, then add one to 9 of the cups. (Tip: Use the tip of a toothpick to help shape the letters for the writing.)

Add peep ghosts to the other 9 cups. pressing them gently into the pudding. Take the moistened cookie crumbs and sprinkle on top of each cup to resemble fresh uneven Earth.

Add the mini pumpkin candies and sprinkle with colorful Halloween nonpareils.

Chill for 2 hours until serving or serve immediately.
