The Best Puppy Chow Recipe  (AKA: Muddy Buddies) EVER! Only 4 ingredients (no butter) and a few minutes results in an irresistible dessert loaded with chocolate and peanut butter! The perfect sweet treat to feed a crowd! 

Puppy Chow Recipe (Muddy Buddies)

chocolate chips*

peanut butter**

Rice Chex Cereal***

sugar

Melt peanut butter and chocolate together, either on the stovetop or in the microwave.

Next, add 3 cups of cereal to a large bowl. Pour 1 cup of your chocolate/peanut butter mixture over the cereal.

Add 3 more cups of cereal to the bowl and then pour the rest of the chocolate/peanut butter mixture on top.

Stir until the cereal is evenly coated. If there are pools of chocolate/peanut butter at the bottom of your bowl, add more cereal 1/4 cup at a time until all that deliciousness is coating your cereal. Remember we WANT clumps, so do NOT add too much cereal!

Let the mixture cool slightly (I throw mine in the fridge or outside on my porch if it's cold out). You do not want it to harden!

Once your mixture is at or below room temperature, add 1 cup of powdered sugar. Mix until combined.

Let cool for about 15 minutes.

Add more powdered sugar 1/4 cup at a time until your cereal is coated to your satisfaction.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature, if it lasts more than 0.3 seconds.

Reindeer Chow Muddy Buddies is an easy, fun, and favorite holiday treat! With minimal ingredients and prep, you will be snacking on this treat in no time!

Reindeer Chow {Muddy Buddies}

Cups Chex cereal

oz holiday m&ms

chocolate

unsalted butter

peanut butter

tsp vanilla extract

Melt the peanut butter and butter in a microwave safe dish. Microwave in 30 second intervals until butter is melted. Add the chocolate a little at a time until all is melted into the mix. You might need to microwave one last time to make sure everything is melted and add the vanilla. Stir together.

In a large bowl add half of the cereal. Drizzle half of the chocolate peanut butter mixture into the cereal in the bowl. Mix with a spoon.

Place one large paper bag into another one. Add 1/2 cup of the powdered sugar and half of the mixed cereal into the bag. Close this tightly and shake vigorously. Add more powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time if needed until all the cereal is coated. Add 1/4 of the m&amp;ms into the bag and toss. Place in an air tight container.

Continue these step with the remaining ingredients.&nbsp;Keep stored in an airtight container. I personally love to keep it in the freezer, YUM!

You can shake the sugar around easier, more effectively, and unless you have a ginormous bowl, it will become hard to accommodate the remaining ingredients.

Chex cereal

green candy melts (about 6 ounces)

salted butter

red candy melts (about 6 ounces)

Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.

Put Chex cereal in a large bowl.

Combine green candy melts, creamy peanut butter and butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high heat for 30 seconds. Stir well and continue heating in the microwave in 15-second increments until the mixture is completely melted and smooth, making sure to stir in between.

Carefully pour the mixture over the Chex in one bowl. Use tongs or a large spoon to gently toss until the cereal is evenly coated.

Transfer the coated cereal to a large Ziploc bag and add powdered sugar. Seal the bag tightly and gently shake the to coat the cereal evenly.

Empty the bag onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Allow to set up for 2 hours.
