A tender Cinnamon Apple Cake drizzled with a milk glaze.

Cinnamon Apple Cake

(1 and 1/2 cups) plain flour

baking powder

baking soda

(3/4 cup) caster sugar

(approximately 1 large) red apple, peeled and roughly chopped

eggs

vanilla extract

120 ml (1/2 cup) vegetable oil

120 ml (1/2 cup) Greek yogurt

(1/4 cup) caster sugar

cinnamon

unsalted butter, melted

(1/4 cup) icing sugar

milk

Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F) standard / 160 C (320 F) fan-forced. Grease and line an 8 or 9 inch round cake tin with baking or parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, add flour, baking powder, baking soda and sugar. Add chopped apple and stir briefly to combine.

In a separate bowl, add eggs, vanilla, oil and yoghurt. Whisk briefly just to break up the egg yolks.

Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and gently mix with a wooden spoon until combined – but be careful not to over mix. Spoon batter into prepared tin.

To make cinnamon topping, combine cinnamon, sugar and butter. Mix together until lumpy and wet. Sprinkle over cake batter.

Bake cake for approximately 30-35 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean. Transfer cake to a wire rack to cool completely.

To make the glaze, mix together sugar and 1 tablespoon of milk. Stir until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add an extra tablespoon of milk. Drizzle glaze all over the cake.

The cake was amazing I did add ginger snap crumbs in the batter as well as the top, and 1/2 cup light brown sugar in the apple mix

Very easy recipe. I used Chobani vanilla cinnamon Greek yogurt ( 5oz). Would recommend two chopped apples instead of one, ( and with some vanilla ice cream on the side😊) Will make again. Thanks !

Bish, bash, bosh, a craving satisfied with this super easy recipe. I didn't have yoghurt so I substituted it with cream and a drizzle of lemon for some acidity and it was absolutely delicious. I was too impatient to let it cool down enough for the sugar drizzle but the cinnamon topping was lovely and crunchy. Yum, yum, most of it is gone...

I made it for the first time and it was perfect. I was totally amazed of how fluffy it is, despite of the very simple procedure. My husband also liked it because it's very light (he almost finished the whole thing). This will surely be a regular recipe in our home. Thanks!

This is the perfect cake!!! ❤️ It is moist and not too sweet. I added 1/8 tsp of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg and all spice to the batter and replaced the oil with apple sauce. It came out perfect!

Amazing cake!! I used a combination of cooking and eating apples and threw in a few blackberres. I also substituted 20ml of oil with 20g of butter. It came out incredicly well.

This recipe was super simple and quite delicious! I wish there were more apple bites though. Next time I will definitely include more apples and perhaps try it with butter instead of oil. I find there's a slight oily taste even the day after. Overall great recipe though! :)

This simple cinnamon apple cake is moist and flavorful, loaded with fresh apples and walnuts.&nbsp;

apples (about 2 medium apples)

Heat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9-inch round cake pan with cooking spray.

In large bowl, beat softened butter and sugars with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir in vanilla, flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Stir in the chopped apples and walnuts. Spoon into your greased pan.

Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool about 10-15 minutes. Cut the warm cake into slices and serve with ice cream.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix or whisk ingredients in order given, stirring until just combined. Fold in your apples.

Pour batter into a buttered 9×13 pan (alternatively, you can line with parchment paper).

Combine last 3 ingredients to make a topping and sprinkle / spread it evenly over the batter.

Bake for 45 minutes. Test with a toothpick if needed. Serve with honey butter or whipped cream if you want. APPLE CAKE IS THE BEST!

I don’t have stoneware to bake this in.  If I use a glass dish or a non stick steel pan would you suggest I change the temperature and or baking time?  Looking forward to making this!

Made this cake today....what a hit with my husband. So most and light, and even with the sugars...not sweet. It is a keeper in my books. Five stars for sure.

I just tried this recipe and followed it exactly (I used the vinegar and milk as I didn't have any buttermilk) and I used melted butter instead of oil. It was amazing! So good. Everyone in my family loved it. I chose to make a simple vanilla glaze to pour on top which just made it even better.

...Or with warm vanilla sauce like they serve with apple strudel in Germany.

Just made this and it was yummy!  I think next time the pinch of yum recipe could use a pinch of salt in the cake batter.  I also decreased sugar in batter by 1/2 a cup,and it was plenty sweet.  Thanks for the recipe!

I made this cake yesterday and it's delicious. It has a wonderful soft texture. I did sub 3/4 cup white sugar and 3/4 cup brown sugar and used butter instead of oil. Also made a traditional streusal topping by adding a little flour and 1/2 cup of nuts. Lovely cake!

PS. Next time I'm going to use 3 apples instead of 2.  Also I put a little extra flour into the apples before adding them to the batter. It absorbs the juice, I find, and keeps apples from sinking.

Recipe video above. Apples take centre stage in this lovely teacake! The crumb is soft and beautifully moist, there&#039;s apple inside and on top. It takes time to chop the apple, but the cake part is dead easy - just a bowl and a wooden spoon! (Correction: plus a whisk and rubber spatula. But NO electric mixer required!)

Cinnamon Apple Teacake

cinnamon powder

unsalted butter (, melted)

tbsp white sugar

flour (, plain/all purpose)

tsp baking powder

oil ((canola, vegetable))

large eggs (, at room temperature (~55 grams/1.95 oz each) (Note 2))

apricot jam ((or other flavour))

water

Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F (all oven types).

Grease a 20cm / 8" springform pan with butter, then line with baking paper (parchment paper).

Chop half the apples into 1.25 cm / 1/2&quot; pieces.

Slice the other half into 3mm / 1/8&quot; thick slices.

Place into separate bowls. Sprinkle/drizzle each bowl with half the butter, sugar and cinnamon. Toss to coat, set aside.

Apples:

Whisk Dry ingredients in a large bowl.

Pour Wet ingredients in a separate bowl in the order listed. Whisk well to combine.

Pour Wet into the Dry ingredients bowl. Mix with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula until flour is incorporated.

Add chopped apple. Gently mix through until JUST dispersed (to keep cinnamon on apple, not dispersed through batter).

Scrape into cake pan, smooth surface.

Top with sliced apples - fan them out in a circle, overlapping each other by 1/4 (fiddle away to use up all the apple / make it even!).

Bake 50 minutes, or until skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean (Note 3). Cover loosely with foil if you have to bake beyond 50 min (to stop apples burning).

Place on cooling rack, release sides of springform pan.

Batter:

Heat Glaze: Place jam and water in a small bowl, microwave 20 seconds to warm, then mix.

Glaze: Brush apples on surface with glaze.

Cool: Allow to cool at least 30 minutes before cutting with sharp knife. It is sheer perfection when it&#039;s still slightly warm in the middle.

I made this cake today and it was so wonderful, moist and just perfect. 🥰 I had some old apples sitting around that I forgot about and instead of throwing them out I peeled and cut them. This is the longest part of this cake creation. I did get tired and put it in the fridge to marinate in cinnamon overnight. Then the next morning I whipped up this cake quickly and I was surprised how good it turned out. If you're reading this and wondering which apple recipe to pick like I was yesterday, I say pick this one! 😊 It has a lot of flavour and is really moist. This really is such a lovely teacake. Growing up I was never a huge fan of apple cinnamon teacakes but this converted me! The prep work is well worth it - and it makes the house smell divine! The apricot jam glaze elevates it to the next level too.

Have been meaning to try this recipe for a while &amp; it didn't disappoint. Took me a lot longer than the 15 minute prep - but then i was just cruising in the kitchen, not rushed.  It was easy to put together ........ and oh yes, smelt &amp; tasted delicious. Yum!

Very easy to make and absolutely yummy! I am a huge fan of apple cake and this one is a winner. I cannot vouch for how well it lasts as it has never lasted past the day I made it LOL. Now my go-to when I want to whip up something to bring for tea when visiting friends.

I made this for a friend, with 4 med/large Granny Smith apples, and used an 8 inch pan   with 1 1/2 inch height.  Should have used a taller pan (or smaller apples) because it overflowed onto the baking sheet it was on.  My friend said it was delicious, next time I'll make it for myself, glad to see it freezes.
