The Secret to Crockpot Ribs (Slow Cooker)

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Just slide your fingers around the side to loosen it up and rip it right off.

In a small bowl, stir together the ingredients for the dry rub. Rub this mixture generously over the outside of the ribs to coat.&nbsp;

Put your ribs in the crockpot. Drizzle on 1 1/2 cups of barbecue sauce, reserving 1/2 cup for later.&nbsp;

Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. The more racks in the pot, the longer you'll need to cook.

Gently remove the racks and lay them out on a foil lined baking sheet. Add the reserved barbecue sauce on top.

Broil under a broiler for 3-5 minutes until the barbecue sauce starts to bubble and caramelize. Alternately you could wrap them in foil and throw them on a heated grill for the same effect.&nbsp;

(18 oz) jar barbecue sauce

Remove the silver skin on the back of the ribs. Pat the ribs dry and season both sides of the ribs with salt and pepper.

Them combine garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground mustard, chili powder, cayenne powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Mix seasonings together and coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub. (Tip: you can let these ribs marinate overnight in the fridge for extra flavor)

Pour your favorite bbq BBQ sauce into the slow cooker along with brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, a splash of whiskey, and some Worcestershire sauce. Whisk everything together.

Cut the slab of ribs in half, and then place half of the ribs on the bottom of the slow cooker and the other half on top. Spoon the bbq BBQ sauce on top of the ribs and then cover with the lid.

Cook on low for 6 hours. (See notes section for cooking times)

Once ribs are finished cooking, place ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Coat with remaining BBQ sauce/braising liquid from the crockpot. Broil the ribs in the oven for 3-5 minutes on the middle rack. (be sure to watch as they can burn quickly)

Place the ribs into the bottom of a well greased crock pot. Lay the onions over the top of the ribs.
