Whenever I am out I always order fried mushrooms! I have never tried to make them at home, as they scare me. I am afraid they won't come out as good and I won't like them anymore. You have changed my mind and I will have to make these very soon.

I love that you used panko for a harder, crispier outer coating on these mushrooms. They look absolutely marvelous!

I always get crispy mushrooms as a stater, I never realised they were this simple to make at home! Definitely will be trying the recipe :)

Oh my these were super tasty! I used vegan buttermilk, which is simply soya or oat milk with some apple cider vinegar added to curdle it, and my family loved these little tasty morsels. Thanks :)

This is one of my all-time favorite appetizers, but I rarely see them on the menu at restaurants anymore. I will have to try your recipe at home soon! :)

Perfect, crispy mushrooms! I used a different combination of seasonings, because it’s what I had on hand. Garlic powder, paprika, white pepper and fajita seasoning with ranch dressing for dipping. Absolutely delicious!

I haven't tried this recipe yet, but was curious if anyone has tried to do these in an air fryer instead of oil?

I am allergic to mushrooms but my in-laws love them. SO this weekend I will try making it for them. I'm bookmarking it.

Grandpa's Epic Fried Mushrooms Recipe

Parasol

White Flour

Eggs

Bread Crumbs (as much

Parsley (not mandatory)

Peanut Oil

Salt and pepper

Clean the MushroomsFirst things first: carefully clean the mushrooms. No one wants a mouthful of dirt, even if it’s “nature’s seasoning.” Use a damp cloth to gently wipe them down, avoiding water if possible to keep them from getting soggy. Trim the stems out.

Prep the Batter for Fried MushroomsCrack the eggs into a bowl and whisk until smooth. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, then stir in the chopped parsley (if you want). This adds a fresh, herby kick to the batter, but is not mandatory.

Coat the MushroomsSlice the larger mushrooms into manageable pieces (depends on the dimension of the mushroom). Gently proceed with the first coating pressing the mushroom in flour, then dip each mushroom slice into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated, then roll it in bread crumbs. Press gently to make sure the crumbs stick—this is the secret to that irresistible crunch.

Heat the OilIs it better to fry mushrooms in butter or oil? Grandpa swears by oil for deep frying. Heat a generous amount of neutral oil (like peanut, sunflower or canola) in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Test the heat with a toothpick - if it sizzles, you’re good to go.

Fry the MushroomsShould you fry mushrooms fast or slowly? Fast, always fast! Carefully place the coated mushrooms into the hot oil, leaving space between each piece. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain and ServeRemove the fried mushrooms with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess oil. Sprinkle with a little extra salt while they’re still hot.
