Delicious cabbage soup recipe for the wonder soup diet plan. Full of vegetable and proven to help you lose weight.

7-Day Diet Weight Loss Soup (Wonder Soup)

cabbage (chopped)

celery (diced)

onion

carrots (diced)

green bell pepper (diced)

garlic (minced)

chicken broth

basil (oregano, garlic diced tomatoes)

oregano

basil

red pepper flakes

black pepper

salt (optional)

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add celery, onions, bell peppers, and carrots.

Saute until slightly tender.

Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.

Pour in chicken broth.

Stir in tomatoes and cabbage.

Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer.

Cook until cabbage is tender.

Stir in oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, black pepper and salt (if using)

Taste broth and adjust seasoning if needed.

Serve and enjoy!

The 7 day diet, love it or hate it? Cabbage soup is a part of many different diet plans and has a zillion different names.  I use it with the 7 day diet. I've been loving it so far and this diet never fails to give me my 10 pound weight loss in 7 days. One thing I love about this Wonder Soup is that you can eat as much of it as you like. I'm all for a diet that lets me eat like a field beast whenever I want to.

10 lbs in 1 week Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe AKA Wonder Soup

Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe

olive oil

yellow onion

bell peppers (chopped (any color))

celery (chopped)

garlic

tomatoes (chopped)

broccoli slaw (optional)

green cabbage head (chopped)

low-sodium broth (chicken or vegetable broth)

tomato paste

tsp black pepper

tbsp turmeric

baby spinach

lemon (juiced)

salt (to taste)

Instant Pot Cabbage Soup: 1) To make the detox cabbage soup in the pressure cooker, press the saute function. Heat oil and cook onion, bell pepper, and celery for about 5 minutes, or until softened. Stir every now and then. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add tomato, broccoli slaw, cabbage, broth, tomato paste, pepper, and turmeric. Stir and secure lid. 2) Set on high for 15 minutes, or press the soup function and set for 15 minutes. Allow natural release, about 20 minutes.   Remove lid and stir in spinach and lemon juice.  Stir in salt but do not go overboard.   

Slow Cooker Cabbage Soup: 1) Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, add oil and cook onion, bell pepper, and celery for about 5 minutes, or until softened. Stir every now and then.  Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Transfer to the slow cooker. 2) Stir in all the other ingredients for the cabbage soup diet recipe, except spinach, lemon juice, and salt. Secure lid and cook for 2-4 hours on high, or 8-10 hours on low. Remove lid and stir in spinach and lemon juice.  Stir in salt but go easy.

Cabbage Soup on the Stovetop: 1) Heat a large nonstick pot or dutch oven over medium heat, add oil and cook onion, bell pepper, and celery for about 5 minutes, or until softened. Stir every now and then. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. 2) Stir in all the other ingredients, except spinach, lemon juice, and salt. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, stir, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes, or until veggies are tender. Remove lid and stir in spinach and lemon juice.  Stir in just enough salt to taste.

This batch of cabbage soup has more color of veggies and cabbage than tomatoes since I used fresh diced tomato.I like to keep cabbage soup vegetarian so we can eat it even when we are not eating meat. Vegetarian Cabbage Soup

Cup tomatoes

tbsp Tomato Paste

Garlic, cloves, minced

Cup Yellow Onion, small diced

Cup Mix Vegetables, I used 1 cup frozen vegetable medley

tsp Oregano

2-3 tbsp Basil, fresh,

adjust

Cup Vegetable Stock, low-sodium low-fat stock, or water

Oil Spray

Salt and Black Pepper

Cook Aromatics

Spray a heavy bottom deep pan with cooking oil spray. Add onion, garlic, oregano, tomato paste with pinch of salt and cook for 5 minutes or until onion are translucent.. Stir well so that garlic does not burn. 

Saute Tomatoes

Add tomato and basil, then saute for 2 more minutes.


Simmer Soup

Add cabbage, mix frozen/fresh vegetables, water (or vegetable broth if using), generous pinch of salt and pepper. Bring to boil, then simmer for about 10 minutes or until all vegetables are tender.


Garnish and Serve

Once cabbage and other veggies are tender.  Switch off heat. Stir in lemon juice and fresh chopped parsley. Taste then adjust salt and black pepper. Serve hot. **Follow instructions below to portion soup for cabbage soup diet plan.

Cabbage Soup

chicken

Add the olive oil to a large dutch oven or soup pot over medium heat. Add the onion and ground chicken and cook while breaking the chicken up into smaller pieces. Once the chicken is cooked through, add the garlic, ginger and tomato paste. Stir to combine and cook for 2 minutes. (At this point you can transfer to a slow cooker, followed by the rest of the ingredients. See note in recipe card for additional directions)

Add the cabbage, carrots, oregano, salt, onion salt, garlic powder and cumin. Stir together and cover. Cook for 5 minutes, uncover and stir. Pour in the chicken broth and diced tomatoes with juice, stir again and bring to a simmer.

Simmer the soup, uncovered for 30 minutes. (Add cooked grains or cooked pasta or rice at this point if using) Taste for seasonings and serve.
