Cheddar cheese (shredded)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Brown ground beef for 5 minutes. Add onions and continue to cook for another 3 minutes.

Add taco seasoning to the beef along with ¼ cup of water and stir together. Continue to cook for 5 minutes until the liquid mostly disappeared.

In a greased, 11x9 casserole dish add ½ cup of the enchilada sauce, and then place two tortillas on top of it so that they cover the bottom of the dish.

Place 1/3 of the beef on top of the tortillas, followed by ½ cup of the enchilada sauce, and 1 cup of cheese.

Place two more tortillas on top of the cheese and repeat the beef, enchilada sauce, and cheese. Place the final two tortillas on top and place the remaining beef on top then pour remaining enchilada sauce over it followed by cheese.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the cover and continue to bake for 10 minutes.

Grands biscuits

beef

onion, (diced)

bell pepper, (diced)

taco seasoning

green chiles, (drained)

Rotel diced tomatoes and green chiles, (drained)

sour cream

mayonnaise

½ cups cheddar cheese, (shredded and divided)

Prepare

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9x13 baking dish with pan spray.

Cook

Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Drain off the fat before adding the onion and bell pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until the onion is translucent.

Add the taco seasoning, can of green chiles, and Rotel, and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through and thickened slightly.

In a small bowl mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise, and ½ cup of the cheddar cheese.

Par-bake

Remove the biscuits from the can and press them into the bottom of the pan, stretching and pinching as needed for them to completely cover the bottom. Bake the biscuits for 12 minutes.

Assemble

After 12 minutes of baking, top the biscuits with the beef mixture and then spread the creamy mixture as evenly as you can over the top. Top with the remaining 2 cups of cheese.

Bake

Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and browning. Serve immediately.

My hearty John Wayne Casserole recipe features ground beef, cheesy topping, and a biscuit crust. The whole family will love it!

baking mix ((Bisquick recommended))

water

ground beef ((or ground turkey))

onion (diced)

Salt and pepper (to taste)

whipped cream cheese

cheddar cheese ((for cheese layer))

tomatoes

green chiles ((1 small can) optional)

cheddar cheese ((for topping))

parsley (for garnish)

Jalapeño peppers (for garnish)

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray or grease a 9x13 baking dish and set it aside.

In a medium bowl, combine the baking mix with water. Stir until a soft dough forms.

Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the biscuit crust firms and slightly puffs (Note: it doesn&#39;t need to be completely cooked or brown at this point). Remove the dish from the oven and set aside.

While the dough is baking, cook the ground beef and onions in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onions are soft (about 8-10 minutes).

Drain any excess fat. Stir in the salt, pepper, and taco seasoning. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, mix together the whipped cream cheese, mayonnaise, 1 cup of shredded cheese, Rotel tomatoes, and additional green chilies (if using).
