Easy Homemade Fettuccine Alfredo Sauce with milk instead of cream cheese or heavy whipping cream. A thick and delicious homemade Alfredo sauce made with milk and flour that only takes about 15 minutes to make!  You won&#039;t believe how good it is until you make the recipe yourself! Serve this homemade pasta recipe in less than 30 minutes!

Homemade Alfredo Sauce with milk

lb. box of fettuccine noodles (cooked)

butter

all-purpose flour

salt

½ teaspoon ground pepper

milk

Parmesan cheese

Prep

Cook the pasta as directed on the box in the salted water. Start boiling the pasta water about 10 minutes before you start making your sauce. You want to have the pasta ready at about the same time your sauce will be finished.

Melt

Add the butter, salt, and pepper to a heavy bottom 2 quart sauce pan. Heat over a medium heat to melt the butter.

Once the butter has melted add the flour and whisk until smooth, removing all lumps from the flour.

Pour

Slowly pour the milk into the saucepan and whisk until smooth. Turn the heat up a bit to about medium-high.

Whisk

Add the shredded Parmesan cheese to the pot and whisk until melted and combined with the milk. Taste and adjust the amount of Parmesan cheese if needed. 

Thicken

Continue whisking until the sauce has thickened, 5 to 8 minutes. The sauce will thicken even further as it cools. If it thickens too much before you can add it to your pasta thin it with a little pasta water or milk.

Drain

Drain the cooked pasta and pour into a large serving bowl. Pour the Alfredo sauce over the pasta and toss until the pasta is evenly coated with Alfredo sauce.

Serve

Serve immediately with a crusty French bread.

Makes one pound of Fettucine Alfredo. Will make 6 to 8 serving.

Fettucine Alfredo is an easy pasta recipe made with simple ingredients. Combine butter, Parmesan, cream, and cheese and you get a rich, decadent, and creamy sauce that coats the pasta like velvet. You'll want to savor every bite. 

Fettuccine Alfredo

fettuccine

unsalted butter

heavy cream

Garnishes: chopped parsley and ground black pepper

Bring a large pot of boiling water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook it according to package directions.

While the pasta is boiling, melt the butter in a large pan over medium-low heat. Add the cream and increase the heat to medium. Whisk the butter and cream until well combined.

Once the cream is steaming hot, add the cheese and whisk until it&#8217;s melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.

Using tongs, transfer the pasta from the pot to the Alfredo sauce. Toss it around in the sauce for a minute or until it&#8217;s well coated. Add the garnishes, if using, and it&#8217;s ready to serve.

Made this a couple of times, it’s a great basic and it’s so easy to build up.
I made it with sauté asparagus, garlic. Great comfort food for sure!
