This delicious cava sangria recipe makes the perfect drink for the holidays.

Cava Sangria Recipe

red apple (the better the apple the better the flavor of the sangria!, sliced thin)

pineapple

oranges

sugar

red grapes (frozen)

brandy

orange liqueur (Gran Marnier is preferred, otherwise use Triple Sec)

pineapple juice

mint

cinnamon

750 ml bottles of chilled Spanish cava (I prefer to make with

Sugar syrup

Ice cubes

In a large bowl combine the sliced apple, orange and diced pineapple. Cover with two tablespoons of sugar and let sit for at least 10 minutes.

Add the brandy, orange liqueur, pineapple juice, mint and spices. Using the back of a wooden spoon, muddle the mint and fruit just a bit.

Chill this mixture (if possible) for at least an hour.

Before serving, add the chilled cava and frozen grapes, and lightly stir to combine. Adjust for sweetness by adding sugar (superfine is best) or simple syrup. To serve, either ladle it into glasses filled with ice cubes, or into a serving pitcher filled halfway with ice.

This sangria is simple to make and fizzy with your choice of club soda or tonic water and sweet from the natural fruit juices that are muddled and swim in the wine overnight. This drink is cheerful, economical, and delicious. What’s not to like? Make it the night before and your pitcher will be ready to display on your table for your guests.

cranberries (rinsed)

orange (sliced)

red wine (recommend Tempranillo)

Muddle the cranberries in a large pitcher. Use the back of a spoon to crush and smash them against the sides of the pitcher.

Add the orange, apple and pear slices and muddle.

Pour in the wine and stir. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Before serving, stir in tonic water or club soda. Serve cold.
