What type of bread do you prefer with your french dip?

I am a beginner cook, this recipe is easy and delicious. New favorite dinner!

This recipe is wonderful!  When we are in the mood for a French dip but don't have any leftover roast beef, I buy hoagie rolls, Boar's Head London broil (sliced medium), Boar's Head Provolone and Johnny's French dip Au Jus sauce from Publix.  Yummy!!!

I used the seasonings on thinly sliced bottom rounds and it was amazing. I used pre-made au ju mix (kids limit my cooking time) but it was amazing just the same! Husband loved it as well!

First french Dip I have ever made, and the best french dip I have ever had.. Only thing is we had a lot of leftover ribeye but I am not complaining because it was delicious

I used banquettes (spellings?) as I hate soggy sandwiches and I find Hoagies tend to get to sloppy.  I also toast the bum centers for above same reason.  Dipping these sandwiches was a joy, then I ran out of Jou....how do you get enough?

French Dips with Homemade Au Jus

hoagie rolls (here's my recipe)

lbs cooked roast beef

beef stock (plus more as needed)

soy sauce (plus more as needed)

unsalted butter

provolone cheese

Heat oven broiler to high.

Using drippings from roast beef pan, spoon out most of oil, if applicable. Place roasting pan over medium high heat on stove top. Add beef stock and soy sauce to pan and, using a wooden (or non-abrasive) spoon, scrape off browned bits from the pan. Bring to a simmer and cook until reduced by half, about 8-10 minutes. If sauce is too salty, add more beef broth. If not salty enough, add more soy sauce, as needed, until it reaches desired flavor.

Slice hoagie rolls in half, lengthwise. Spread a thin layer of butter over each half (top and bottom) of roll. Place rolls, butter side up, on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Place bread under the broiler and broil until butter is melted and bread starts to turn golden brown. Careful not to let bread burn. Once golden brown, remove from oven. Take the "tops" off the baking sheet and set aside. Leave the "bottoms" on the baking sheet for later. Keep broiler on.

Slice roast beef into very, very thin slices. Place slices in hot Au Jus on the stove and cook for 1 minute. Using tongs or a fork, carefully remove roast beef slices and layer on each "bottom" half of the sandwich with desired amount. Top each with a slice of provolone cheese and replace under the broiler until cheese is melted, about 1-2 minutes.

Remove from broiler and place the "top" half on each sandwich. Slice each french dip in half and serve alongside a small cup of Au Jus (and a dab of horseradish, if desired) for dipping.

French Dips With Homemade Au Jus

Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches are filled with tender chunks of roast beef with thin slices of melted mozzarella cheese all held together by a soft hoagie bread all dipped in au jus sauce. This warm, savory and comforting sandwich is a MUST!  

Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwich (Melt in Your Mouth!)

chuck roast

Salt and Pepper

beef consommé

onion (sliced)

soy sauce

Worcestershire Sauce

mozzarella cheese

Generously season each side of the roast with salt and pepper.  In a large skillet add the olive oil and turn to medium high heat.  Sear each side of the roast for 3-4 minutes until it gets a golden brown crust.

Place the roast into the slow cooker.  Add the beef consommé, beef broth, onion, soy sauce, And Worcestershire sauce.

Cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high for 5-7 hours.  Remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred with a fork and place on hoagies with a slice of cheese.  Broil the tops in the oven to melt the cheese and serve.

SLOW COOKER INSTRUCTIONS

Generously season each side of the roast with salt and pepper.  Turn the instant pot to saute and add thee olive oil.  Sear each side of the roast for 3-4 minutes until it gets a golden brown crust.  Turn the instant pot off.

Add the Add the beef consommé, beef broth, onion, soy sauce, And Worcestershire sauce.  Add the lid to the pot and seal.  Cook on high pressure/manual for 60 minutes.  Do the nartural release for 20 minutees and then quick release.  Remove the roast from the instant pot and shred with two forks.
