French Onion Ground Beef and Rice Casserole - The savory taste of French onion soup, the heartiness of ground beef, and rice to soak up all that goodness! You can&#39;t go wrong serving this meal for dinner any night of the week.

French Onion Ground Beef and Rice Casserole

beef (lean)

garlic salt (or to taste)

beef consume

onion soup

water

rice

butter (1 ½ stick,

Preheat oven to 425°F. Spray a 9X13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large skillet, add ground beef and garlic salt to season. Cook and crumble ground beef until browned and cooked through.

In a prepared baking dish add rice and ground beef. Pour in soup, broth, and water and stir until combined.

Cut butter into slices and place on top of the mixture.

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove foil and bake 30 minutes more.

Once done fluff with a fork and serve.

I love anything that has rice in it! I had all the ingredients for this recipe and already some organic ground beef thawing.
I added 10 oz. Of frozen, thawed broccoli florets as one reviewer did. Will try French cut green beans next! I have as concerned about saltiness! The salt levels are low if anything. When I took the foil off after 30 min., I thought no way is this going to be absorbed and the right consistency. Oh, Ye of little faith!! It was perfect!
Thanks for a tasty recipe, that also allows me to eat lay with it. I will also add sauteed mushrooms next time.

We love this recipe!  It’s one that my ENTIRE family eats and my 8 yr old is super picky!!

This was delicious! We added fried onions to top to brownand used only 1/2 cup butter! Though to pump it up a little next time, I think I'm going to add chopped mushroom and green pepper. Omit 1/2 butter and top with provolone cheese at end to brown. Like a Philly cheese steak rice bowl!

I've made this recipe twice now (about to make it a third time!) and it's always quick, easy, and delicious!

-to make it gluten free I use Better Than Bouillon beef instead of beef consomme and a prepared envelope of gluten free French Onion soup mix instead of the canned French Onion soup-
