These crispy onion strings are the absolute BEST! The brown and crispy outside and the deliciously moist onion inside make this the perfect topping for any burger or salad! 

Crispy Onion Strings

onions (sliced thin)

buttermilk

flour

garlic powder

onion powder

paprika

salt

black pepper

Heat oil in a skillet to 350 degrees.  In a small bowl add the buttermilk.  In another bowl combine the flour, garlic powder, onion, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Use a sharp knife to slice up the onions. Using tongs dredge the onion strips in the buttermilk, and then into the flour mixture.  Add to the hot oil.

Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

So easy to make and delicious to eat! Used them for burgers, my family ate the leftovers within minutes after the burgers were gone. Will definitely make again.

This recipe is great but my one complaint is you don't need this much butter milk, like, yer dipping it, so you only need like 1/2 a cup, if it was a batter then that's a reasonable amount but yer dippin 2 large onions in  milk, its not really going to soak up all that much, bit of a waste.

I was making burger patties and at the last minute wanted to make onion strings.  I found your recipe and whipped them up fast and easy.  
I only had coconut milk on-hand  so used that and they turned out great anyway.  It's all about the spices!!  Thanks I'll be using this again
