Funnel Cake is a fair favorite, but it&#x27;s even better made at home! You can enjoy crispy, fried funnel cakes with powdered sugar any time of the year with this easy recipe!

Funnel Cakes

milk

vanilla extract

sugar

baking powder

salt

In a large liquid measuring cup or batter bowl with a spout, whisk together milk, egg, water and vanilla.

Add sugar, baking powder and salt and whisk until combined.

Add the flour, and whisk until completely smooth. Set aside.

In a medium, deep-sided pan or pot, heat 1&quot; of oil to 375°F over medium-high heat. When you put the end of a wooden spoon in the pot and bubbles form around the spoon, it&#x27;s ready. Reduce heat to medium.

Drizzle batter from cup in a thin line, swirling around the pan and overlapping as desired. Cook for 2 minutes or until light golden brown, then flip and cook another 2 minutes or until golden brown.

Dust with 2 tablespoons powdered sugar and serve. Repeat one more time with the remaining batter.

Homemade Funnel Cake Recipe

(250 grams) all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)

cinnamon

nutmeg

(360 ml) milk

(50 grams) granulated sugar

eggs

Place a large skillet or large pot over medium heat and fill halfway with oil. Allow oil to heat to 350°F (177°C) while you prepare the funnel cake batter.

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.

In a separate large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

Once the oil has reached 350°F (177°C) pour the funnel cake batter into a funnel, using your finger to close off the end of the funnel, (or pour the batter into a plastic squeeze bottle or liquid measuring cup).&nbsp;

Carefully pour about 1/4 - 1/3 cup of the batter into the oil in a circular motion overlapping itself. Allow to cook until lightly golden brown on the bottom (about 1-2 minutes), then carefully flip with tongs or a flat spatula and allow to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes or until cooked through.

Carefully remove the cooked funnel cakes with tongs or a flat spatula and transfer to a baking sheet or plate lined with paper towels. Allow to cool slightly, then top with powdered sugar or your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Making funnel cake with pancake mix couldn't be easier! All you need is one box, sugar, milk, and a few other staple ingredients.

Funnel Cake with Pancake Mix

Vegetable oil,

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the pancake mix, sugar, and vanilla extract.

Gradually whisk in the milk, a little at a time, until the consistency is like cake batter.

Fill a deep skillet with about 2 inches of vegetable oil. Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Use a funnel or a squeeze bottle to pour the batter into the oil. If you're using a funnel, cover the opening with your finger while you fill it with batter. Then, release your finger to start pouring. Move the funnel in a circular motion to form a spiral.

Fry the funnel cake for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until it's golden brown.

Remove it from oil and place it on a plate lined with paper towels.

Dust it with powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy!

Easy Funnel Cake Recipe

all-purpose flour

¾ tsp baking powder

1½ tbsps white granulated sugar

eggs (room temperature)

milk (room temperature)

vanilla extract/essence

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.

In another medium bowl, add the sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, whisking continuously until the batter is smooth and lump-free. You should end up with a thick but pourable batter (see note 1 if the batter is too thick).

Place a medium saucepan over medium heat and fill it with about 2 inches of unflavored vegetable oil. Bring the oil to 375°F (190°C). I recommend using a kitchen thermometer for best results (see note 2).

Once the oil is ready, pour about ½ cup of batter into a small jug with a spout (see note 3 if you&#39;d prefer to use a funnel). Slowly pour the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion, adding criss-cross patterns to fill in the center. Cook for about 90 seconds or until golden brown. Carefully flip (I use tongs) and cook the other side for another 90 seconds or until golden brown.

Transfer the cooked funnel cake to a paper towel to soak up any excess oil, then move on to the next one. I recommend checking the oil temperature between each funnel cake for optimal results. Work quickly, as funnel cakes are best enjoyed warm.

Once all the funnel cakes are ready, generously dust each funnel cake with powdered sugar. Since the cakes themselves aren’t overly sweet, don’t be shy with the powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy!
