Easy ground beef curry with tender minced beef, potatoes, tomatoes and aromatic curry sauce.

Ground Beef Curry

beef

((1 large potato, cut in small cubes))

Shallot onion ((fine chopped))

Vine ripen tomato ((chopped))

tbsp Tomato puree

tomato concentrate/paste)

Ginger paste

Garlic paste

tbsp Oil (or ghee)

water

Turmeric powder

1½ tsp Garam masala powder

Cumin powder ((Jeera powder))

Chilli powder ((Or paprika powder))

((Or add salt according

Black pepper

basmati rice ((Nann/Chappati or Flat bread))

Coriander/Cilantro chopped ((for garnish))

Fresh chilli sliced ((for garnish) optional)

Finely chop the shallot onions, vine tomatoes and coriander. Cut the potato into small cubes.

In a large pan or skillet, drizzle 3 tablespoon of oil and sauté the potato cubes with medium heat until golden brown. Remove from oil and set aside.

In the remaining oil, add the chopped onions and sauté them until translucent, then add the garlic paste and ginger paste in. Stir for few seconds and follow with chopped tomatoes.

When the tomatoes become soft, add the tomato puree, salt, turmeric, garam masala, chilli powder, cumin powder. Stir well for 5 seconds, follow with the ground beef and cook until the beef changed into brown and no longer pink.

Place the sautéed potato cubes back in. Pour the warm water in, stir well, close the lid and simmer for another 8-10 minutes with low heat until the beef potatoes are cooked. You can add extra warm water if the sauce is too thick.

Turn off heat, stir in the chopped coriander, fresh ground black pepper and transfer to serving plate.

Serve over a bowl of cooked basmati rice and garnish with extra chopped coriander and fresh chilli slices. Or you can serve with any of your favourite naan, chapati, or flatbread.

With the perfect amount of heat, some hint of sweetness, and lots of savory deliciousness, this Thai Ground Beef or Pork Curry is deliciously comforting! It&#039;s easy to make so it&#039;s perfect for weeknight dinners!

Thai Ground Beef or Pork Curry

red Thai chilis (or finger chilis), (seeded)

onion shallot

garlic, (peeled)

ginger, (peeled)

cilantro roots or stems, (or about 2 tablespoons, chopped)

shrimp paste ((optional but adds depth of flavor))

fish sauce

tomatoes

tamarind concentrate (or 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice)

tbsp sugar

cilantro leaves, chopped

Using a mortar and pestle or a food processor, process the chilis, onion or shallot, garlic, ginger,  and cilantro roots or stems, to a paste. Add the shrimp paste to the spice paste, if using. Set aside.

Heat the oil in a wok or large skillet to medium. Add the spice paste and cook for about 5 minutes or until the paste begins to release its oil and has darkened in color. (If you use the mortar and pestle, oil bubbles would be more likely to be released than if using a food processor.) Add the ground meat, increase the heat and cook for  5 minutes. Season the meat with fish sauce.

Add the water and crushed tomatoes and continue to simmer for another 15 minutes or until the liquid has reduced and the meat is fully tender.

Season with the tamarind concentrate or lime juice and sugar and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasoning, if needed - you should taste hints sweetness, saltiness, slight tartness and, of course, some spicy kick. The aim is to balance these flavors. Turn off the heat and stir in the fresh cilantro leaves. Serve on top of rice or noodles!

This Ground Beef Curry (Pakistani Keema Currry) is an amazingly delicious meal that comes together fast and is made with simple ingredients. You&#39;ll want this in your meal rotation for sure.

Melt oil or butter in a large pan.

Add onion and garlic (if using minced, add a bit of water to reconstitute).

Cook until onion softens and garlic begins to brown (watch it carefully – garlic burns easily!)

Add meat and cook thoroughly.

Add curry, salt and spices. Stir well.

Dice potatoes.

Add potatoes and tomatoes to the pan. Bring to a simmering boil. Reduce heat, cover, and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until potatoes are done.

Add peas and cook until peas are done.

Serve alone or over rice or cauliflower as desired.

Melt oil or butter in a pan.

Place butter in Instant Pot and add onion, garlic, and meat (if using minced garlic, add a bit of water to reconstitute).

Cook thoroughly on saute feature (watch it carefully – garlic burns easily!)

Add tomatoes.

Add curry, salt and spices.

Add potatoes.

Cook under high pressure set for 0 minutes then after 5 minutes release the pressure quickly.

Put the frozen peas in.

Cook it again under high pressure for 0 minutes and do a quick release of the pressure.

For Instant Pot

I have never had anything like this before and felt like trying something new. I used radishes in place of potatoes, mixed peas and carrots and ground chicken instead of beef. It required longer to simmer, but was delicious!!

This is one of my very favourite recipes, my kids back in the day loved it as well. I use the instant pot to make it now as I find the potatoes cook well in there, which sometimes wasn’t the case on the stovetop.

This is one of my very favorite meals since childhood! I was fortunate enough to live next to a Pakistani family when I was younger and my Mother was great friends with her. We always ate this with a wheat tortilla like flat bread made on a cast iron skillet for a good char. The only thing different from your recipe ( which is delicious!) is that my mother used Chick Peas or Garbanzo beans (depending on what part of the country you live in) in place of the green peas that you used. I haven't thought of this dish in years when I came across your recipe! Thanks for the memories! I will be making this all of the time now.

My whole family (including my 3 year old and 13 month old) loved this recipe! I did it with sweet potatoes and served over rice. I’m already looking forward to leftovers tomorrow for lunch!! And it was so easy!
