Gyro Meat Recipe

Lean Ground Beef

pork (or ground lamb)

Red Onion. chopped (rough chopped)

Garlic

Ground Marjoram

rosemary

Oregano

Kosher Salt

Ground Black Pepper

Place onions, garlic into a large food processor and process until finely chopped but not liquefied.

Add meat and all the seasonings and grind for another 3-5 minutes. Do not skip this step. If you do, it will be like ground beef with some weird seasonings in it. Grind it until it's a big, huge, sticky mess that you wonder how you will ever clean up.

Since writing this recipe I've discovered a faster way to do this, which is to use your stand mixer with the paddle. Paddle the living daylights out of the meat with the spices until it's a sticky mess. This is a lot easier to clean up than a blender, and the end result is the same. So use whatever you have that works for you.

Put into a foil pan, and smooth out the top, and bake at 350 for 60 mins, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 175-180

Take it out of the oven and drain all the fat.

Cover it with foil and then place something heavy on it to compress it. I put a cast iron skillet on top and then carefully placed 3 cans of beans on top of the skillet to compress it.

Let it rest for 30 mins and then slice into thin slices.

Easy Gyro Meat Recipe 37 seconds

Gyros with Tzatziki Sauce are great for summer cookouts. Wrap a pita around grilled lamb meatballs with tomato, cucumber, parsley, and sauce!

Lamb Gyros With Greek Tzatziki Sauce

Greek yogurt

garlic (minced)

cucumber

lemon juice

olive oil

mint (minced)

salt and pepper

red onion ((diced))

breadcrumbs

cinnamon

oregano

parsley (chopped)

rosemary (chopped)

cumin

allspice

smoked paprika

cracked pepper

sea salt

feta cheese (crumbled)

lb ground lamb

pita wraps

tomatoes (chopped)

cucumber (chopped)

parsley (minced)

Using a whisk, mix Greek yogurt, minced garlic, chopped cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil, chopped mint, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours, this helps the flavor.

Tzatziki Sauce

Soak wood skewers in cold water for 1 hour, or use metal skewers.

In a large bowl, add diced onions, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, cinnamon, oregano, parsley, rosemary, cumin, allspice, paprika, salt, pepper, and crumbled feta.

Crack in one egg and add the ground lamb. Using clean hands or a spatula, combine until and mix the lamb gyro meat well until it comes together.

Preheat your gas or charcoal grill to medium-high heat, 400 degrees.

Use a medium-size ice cream scoop and then roll the meat mixture into almost 3&quot; meatballs in size, as they will shrink on the grill.

Push 4-5 meatballs onto each skewer leaving space in between. Place them on a large rimmed baking sheet until you are ready to grill.

Preheat your grill, for direct cooking on medium-high heat. Set the lamb kabobs on the wire rack of your gas or charcoal grill for 5-6 minutes per side.  Turn every 5-6 minutes until nice grill marks form on the surface of the meatballs. They are done at 160 degrees internal temperature.

Lamb Kabobs

Warm each pita bread briefly on the grill for 20-30 seconds. Don&#39;t leave it there too long, you want a nice soft pita bread.

Place 3 grilled lamb meatballs onto the warm pita bread, and sprinkle on fresh toppings of chopped tomato and cucumber.

Dollup on the tzatziki sauce and garnish with parsley. You can serve them with some more Greek food recipes, try a Greek salad, a tabbouleh salad, or Greek fries.

Gyro Meat (Easy Recipe)

Onion

lb Ground lamb

Ground beef

tbsp oregano

marjoram

thyme

tsp Cumin

tsp Sea salt

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (148 degrees C). Line a loaf pan (this one is the perfect size) with parchment paper or foil.

In a food processor, puree the garlic and onion, scraping the sides with a spatula as needed, until a smooth paste forms.

Transfer the onion mixture to a kitchen towel, twist the ends, and squeeze to release as much liquid as possible (about 1/2 cup). Discard the liquid and place the dried mixture from the towel back into the food processor.

Add the lamb, beef, herbs, salt, and pepper. Process until the texture is like a paste, about 1-2 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides as necessary.

Transfer the meat mixture into the lined pan. Press down to compact it as much as possible.

Bake for 45-55 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

When the meat is done, remove from the oven, drain the fat, then tent with foil and let the meat rest until it reaches 175 degrees F (79 degrees C).

Remove the meat from the pan and cool completely, then refrigerate for 2-3 hours, until cold.

Slice the loaf of gyro meat as thinly as you can.

Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. (You can use a little oil if you want to.) Working in batches, add the gyro meat in a single layer and pan fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned.

Serve the gyro meat slices with your favorite toppings or in a wrap. (See my post above for ideas!)

Made this and it is so flavorful.  Used fresh rosemary from the garden, 2 sprigs.  Turned out great.  We are low carb so we skipped the pita and had the meat on a greek salad with tzatziki sauce. The house smelled so good.  Thank you for another wonderful recipe!

Meat turned out like regular ground meat and not compact at all. Couldn’t slice it because it would fall apart. The favor was good but not the texture. Not sure what I did wrong.

I am a chef and I do like gyros but my family doesn’t like Lamb so I just use ground beef only and it turns out really good

This as legit, tasted awesome who knew you could make your own at home.spices are right on . I used a sheet pan covered it with foil and baked till 155 - 160. Let it cool in the fridge for a bit. We all loved it.
