This healthy cranberry sauce is super easy, packed with delicious flavor and best part is, it can be made with no sugar added.

Healthy Cranberry Sauce {no added sugar}

cranberries

water

orange zest

Stevia that measures like sugar

vanilla (optional)

cinnamon (optional)

Combine cranberries, water, orange zest, and Stevia in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have popped and the mixture has thickened to your liking, about 5 to 10 minutes.

Use a fork or potato masher, if desired, to further mash up cranberries.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and cinnamon, if using.

The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools. It will keep in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 2 weeks.

15-Minute Homemade Orange Cranberry Sauce (naturally sweetened!)

orange juice

maple syrup (or honey)

vanilla extract

whiskey, bourbon, brandy

Add cranberries, orange juice, maple syrup, vanilla extract and bourbon in a small pot and place over medium high heat.

Once mixture begins to boil, cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 10 minutes or until the sauce becomes nice and thick, coating the back of a spoon. You may notice a popping sound; this is the cranberries bursting so don&#x27;t worry.

After 10 minutes I recommend removing the lid and allowing cranberries to simmer a few minutes to thicken the sauce up. If you are using frozen cranberries, this may take a bit longer.

Once the sauce is thick, remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Refrigerate until ready to serve, then garnish with orange zest. Serves 6 (about 1/4 cup each). Feel free to double the recipe!

How to Make Amazing, Naturally Sweetened Orange Cranberry Sauce

<em>This healthy cranberry sauce is naturally sweetened and made with only 4 ingredients! It’s perfectly sweet and tangy - great as a Thanksgiving side or holiday jam.</em>

Healthy Cranberry Sauce 

(120 ml) fresh-squeezed orange juice* (about 1 large orange)

orange zest, cinnamon stick,

Add all ingredients to a medium pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 6-8 minutes. Stir the mixture frequently to ensure nothing burns or sticks to the pan. The filling is “done” once it has thickened and most of the cranberries have popped. 

Use a fork or potato masher to pop the remainder of the cranberries, if desired. Let cool completely before serving as desired; leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to one week.

This is so good! I added a finely chopped green apple because I thought it would taste good, and it did! Highly recommend

Cranberry Sauce Recipe 

cranberries, washed

In a pot, cook cranberries, maple syrup and a pinch of salt over medium heat, until lightly simmering and cranberries begin to pop, about 8 minutes.  It is okay if cranberries are in different stages of breaking down.  Some will be popped, some will still be whole.

Remove cranberries from heat.  Add diced apples, orange zest and chopped orange.  Mix to combine.  It will thicken as it cools.

Perfect accompaniment!

I followed this recipe exactly as written and everyone raved about the cranberry sauce with the turkey. I had planned to add a splash of orange liquor but forgot, and am glad I did. The simplicity of this recipe with the maple syrup really shines.

Bought too much cranberries for thanksgiving so I made this again tonight! It’s so tasty with the fruit additions. My husband and I just eat this by itself as a dessert haha.

I love this cranberry sauce! It’s not too sweet and the tart cranberry flavor pops through perfectly! I often use even less maple syrup for more tartness because that’s what my husband likes best. I have also used mandarins instead of oranges. Full syrup or less, mandarins or oranges, it’s perfect!

Question: would I be able to omit the apple? I’m guessing the natural pectin in the apple helps the sauce set, but I’d like to make a sauce without the extra texture sometime. Just wondering if this would work. Thanks!

So easy and good! I had used a different recipe in years' past that was just ok, but this recipe was amazing! This year at Thanksgiving, everyone raved about how good the cranberry sauce was, whereas usually it's a side on our table that no one really talks about. Loved the texture that the apple/orange add. I used a bit less maple syrup and still found it sweet enough.

Go through cranberries and discard any squishy ones.

Add cranberries, maple syrup and orange juice to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil covered, reduce heat to medium and cook for 6 minutes. Cranberries are cooked when you hear them pop.

Remove lid, add cinnamon and vanilla if you wish, stir and cook for 3 more minutes or until cranberry sauce has thickened. No need to add cornstarch or gelatin as cranberries and honey will thicken on their own.
