Instant Pot Hibachi Steak Recipe

vegetable oil

sesame oil

salt and pepper

soy sauce

white vinegar or apple cider vinegar

ginger

garlic (minced)

onion

mushrooms (sliced)

zucchini (sliced in rounds then halved)

green onion (chopped)

sesame seeds (toasted)

Press on SAUTE on your Instant Pot, when a HOT message appears add the vegetable oil, along with sesame oil. Sear the meat in the Instant Pot until it&#x27;s brown (but not necessarily cooked through as it will be pressure cooked later), and season it with salt and pepper.

Add minced ginger and garlic to the pot, and cook for a couple of minutes. Press on CANCEL on the Instant Pot. Then add the onions and mushrooms, soy sauce, vinegar, give everything a quick mix.

Secure the lid and set the vent to SEALING. Select the PRESSURE COOK/MANUAL setting and set the cooking time for 4 minutes at high pressure.

The Instant Pot will take around 10 minutes to come to pressure and start cooking. When the cooking program ends, quickly release the steam and carefully open the pot.

Now you will thicken the sauce by adding 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon of water. Press on SAUTE and add the corn starch slurry to the sauce once it&#039;s boiling. Mix with a wooden spoon until the sauce has thickened. Press on CANCEL, and add in the sliced zucchini. Cover with the lid and let the zucchini &quot;steam&quot; for 5 minutes&quot;.

Serve over Instant Pot white rice, or Instant Pot brown rice and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onion.

Make your own Benihana hibachi steak with mushrooms at home with this easy copycat recipe.

Benihana Hibachi Steak

Chinese cooking wine

sirloin steak

white mushrooms (sliced thick)

Combine all marinade ingredients and place the steak in the marinade.

Marinate the steak at least 1 hour before cooking.

Remove the steak from the marinade and cut it into bite-size pieces.

Heat a skillet to medium-high.

Add oil and then the steak pieces. Stir occasionally as they are cooking so they will be cooked on all sides.

When the steak pieces are close to being cooked through, add the mushrooms. Add more soybean oil if needed.

Season steak and mushrooms with salt and pepper.

Cook until the steak is done and the mushrooms are tender.

Hibachi Steak Bowls

lbs top sirloin steak,

mirin

ginger paste

white pepper (or black pepper)

Kosher salt,

unsalted butter, divided

carrots,

zucchinis,

mushrooms (I use baby bella)

garlic powder

teriyaki sauce

For serving: Fried rice & store-bought Yum Yum Sauce

Prep &amp; marinate steak

. Place the sirloin into a large bowl (or inside a large plastic baggie). Add the mirin, garlic, ginger, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, white pepper (or black pepper), and salt-to taste. Toss all ingredients to fully combine, ensuring steak chunks are thoroughly coated. Then set the steak aside to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Sauté veggies

. In a wok or large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium heat. When hot, add the carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms. Cook the veggies, tossing often, until tender and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Season the veggies with garlic powder and salt/pepper- to taste. Then transfer the sautéed veggies to a clean plate and set aside. If needed, carefully wipe the pan clean with a damp paper towel.

Cook steak

. In the same pan, add remaining 2 tablespoons butter and 1 tablespoon sesame oil over medium-high heat. When hot, add the steak. Cook, tossing beef often, until nicely seared, about 3-4 minutes- careful not to overcook steak into toughness. Then remove from heat, and drizzle in the teriyaki sauce or Japanese BBQ sauce, toss well to coat steak in sauce until chunks are glistening.

Build the bowls &amp; serve

. Evenly divide the cooked steak and sautéed veggies into shallow bowls, along with fried rice. Finish off bowls with a drizzle of store-bought Yum Yum sauce (or feel free to serve it on the side) to complete these hibachi steak bowls. Enjoy!

You got me out here making it do what it do! As always, thank you for your flavorful,  easy to follow recipes. Instead of steak I used chicken and it was delicious. I will definitely make this one again over winter break.

Could I use a beef tenderloin for this recipe??

This is seriously the best recipe! My toddler doesn’t like any meat really but he loves the steak in this and had thirds tonight! 

I made these bowls last night. I was afraid I didn’t have enough steak, so I also added in some chicken with the marinade. Absolutely delicious. Tasted exactly like I was eating at a Hibachi restaurant! 

Great recipe, not a huge mushroom fan so I substituted thin cabbage.  Everything else was perfect.  Thank you so much 

This was SO GOOD. I followed the recipe exactly and it was perfect. The marinade was absolutely delicious and the flavor ratios were on point. I had never tried that brand of frozen rice before but it paired so well with the yum yum sauce. 

Soooo good and super easy to make. I made it with basic jasmine rice and it was still delicious. Thank you for this
