Homemade Truffles For Valentine's Day

Drop 2-3 food coloring gel into it. Mix well with your hand. You can use more or less coloring depending on the color you desire, but try it with one drop each time.

Use it as regular sprinkles to coat these chocolate truffles.

For Homemade Pink Colored Sugar:

Grind the biscuits in a food processor or just pound them in a plastic bag using a rolling pin to make biscuit four.

In a small saucepan bring the heavy cream to boil, stirring occasionally.

Add in the chopped bittersweet chocolate, mix with a spoon until smooth. Let it wait until it reaches room temperature.

Transfer the biscuit flour into a large bowl and pour the melted chocolate mixture over it. Mix well with a spatula and chill for 20 minutes.

Wet your hands and make small balls from it and roll in pink colored sugar. It might be too sticky when rolling if you don’t wet your hands.

Place them on a large plate in a single layer.

Cover with a plastic wrap and chill at least for 1 hour. Remove it from the fridge 15-20 minutes before serving.

Valentine's Day Homemade Chocolate Truffles. (With Homemade Pink Colored Sugar)

These homemade chocolate truffles make a grand entrance with their beautiful candy-like exterior, ganache filling, and a dusting of cocoa powder. They melt right in your mouth!

Chocolate Truffles

whipping cream

chocolate chips

Tbsp coconut oil

cocoa powder (dusted, for garnish)

Heat cream in a saucepan over high heat and remove it just before it is boiling.

Add the chocolate chips and allow the mixture to temper for 5 to 10 minutes. Stir until combined.

Place in the refrigerator for 25 to 30 minutes until thickened.

In the meantime, melt the chocolate for the coating in the microwave at 20 second intervals until completely melted. Add the coconut oil and mix. Make sure the oil melts smoothly and that there are no lumps.

Fill the mold with the melted chocolate coating. I recommend using a piping bag, squeeze bottle, or a ziptop bag with the edge snipped off for this. Turn the mold upside down above some parchment paper, until the excess chocolate has dripped out. Now turn the mold how it normally sits for a little while so the chocolate can set until the ganache is ready.

Add the ganache filling into each mold filling them 3⁄4 full with a piping bag and let it sit about 10 minutes before sealing.

After  10 minutes add a bit more chocolate coating to seal. Immediately, scrape the mold to remove the excess chocolate on top. Place in the freezer for 30 - 45 minutes or until they are hardened. For extra garnish, you can use cocoa powder on top of the truffles.

This easy Chocolate Truffles recipe only requires 4 ingredients and is simple enough for anyone to make! They have a smooth, creamy texture and are the perfect homemade candy!

Easy Chocolate Truffles

4 oz semi-sweet chocolate bars* (, finely chopped)

heavy cream (*)

vanilla extract

Coating: unsweetened cocoa powder, crushed nuts, sprinkles

Place the chocolate in a heat-proof bowl. Set aside.

Place the cream in a saucepan over medium heat (or you can heat it to simmering, in the microwave). Cook for 2-3 minutes or until cream is simmering.

Pour the cream over the chopped chocolate and allow mixture to rest for 3-5 minutes.

Add the vanilla extract then stir until the chocolate has completely melted. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface (to avoid condensation) and refrigerate for one hour, or until firm.

Scoop the mixture into 1 tablespoon-sized mounds. Roll each into balls.

If the chocolate gets too soft and starts to melt, you can chill it until it becomes easier to work with again. This gets a little sticky, so see my tips above.

Roll each into toppings, if desired. Place them on a sheet pan lined with parchment and chill until firm. After the truffles are firm, you can transfer them to an airtight container.

Store your truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Remove them to come to room temperature about 20 minutes before serving (they taste best served at room temperature.).
