Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks

Freeze Cheese: Unwrap mozzarella sticks (or cut into sticks if starting from a block of cheese). Set on a parchment-lined plate and place in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Prep: Meanwhile, set up your breading station. Place flour in a ziploc baggie. Whisk egg in a shallow bowl. Combine panko and seasonings in a separate shallow bowl.

Bread Once: Toss mozzarella sticks into the bag with the flour, zip it shut, and shake to evenly coat the cheese. Working one at a time, roll the mozzarella sticks in the egg, then in the panko. Return to the plate and freeze for 30 more minutes.

Bread Twice: Lightly grease your air fryer basket or rack, and preheat to 390°F (200°C). Coat the mozzarella sticks in egg then panko one more time, then transfer to the air fryer.

Cook: Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, until crispy and golden brown. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like marinara or ranch.

Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.

In a small shallow bowl mix the flour with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

In a second bowl add eggs along with 1 tablespoon of water and beat until smooth.

In a third bowl mix together the panko and the Italian seasoning.

Working with one piece of cheese at a time, dip the cheese into the egg mixture, followed by the flour mixture, back into the egg mixture and finally into the panko, gently pressing the panko to ensure it sticks. Set the cheese sticks on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with remaining cheese. Place the baking sheet in the freezer and freeze the cheese sticks for 45 minutes.

In a large pot, set over medium high heat, bring the oil to 350°F, using a deep fat thermometer. Remove the cheese sticks from the freezer. Working in small batches gently drop them into the hot oil. Cook until golden brown on all sides, about 2 minutes. Remove from oil and place on a metal cooling rack set over a baking sheet. Repeat with remaining cheese sticks.

Serve mozzarella sticks immediately with marinara sauce.

These taste like heaven kissed my plate. My cheese didn’t really melt at all tho so they ended up like breaded cheese sticks haha but that’s ok cause I actually hate melted cheese😂just not sure what I did wrong

Dude, when I tasted this it felt like it was made from a god. Had me bout to start tearing dude. ITS SO GOOD!

I put them in the oven after I fried them because the weren’t gooey and cold inside, I also had to fry them 1 by 1 because they would turn black if I didn’t. But after they came out of the oven they were gooey and really good!

It was good, I would use about half the salt.. other than that it came out perfect, make sure your oil hits 350 before you fry! I used vegetable oil the crunch was perfect on them though.. My wife loved them

We left them in the freezer over Night for like 12 hours. When the oil was ready I took them from the freezer and put them in the fryer and they were nice and crispy and they tasted amazing. I let them cook for about 1.5 minutes. Also I used gluten free panko crums.

Homemade Mozzarella Sticks Recipe (Breaded Cheese)

Add 2-3 inches of oil to a deep-frying pan or pot and heat it over medium heat or until it reaches 265 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the meantime, add the flour to a shallow bowl then add the salt and pepper and stir to combine.

In another shallow bowl, whisk the eggs and water together.

Finally, in a separate shallow bowl, add the breadcrumbs.

Dredge the cheese sticks one at a time in the flour then dip them in the egg mixture then coat them in the breadcrumbs and set them on a plate or cooling rack.

Once the oil is ready, fry each of the cheese sticks in the oil for 2-3 minutes or until light and golden. Only add 3-4 cheese sticks at a time to not overcrowd the pan.

Let them cool on a cooling rack or a plate fitted with a paper towel then serve with marinara sauce.

can I bake these on an oven safe crisping sheet🤔 as I don't like frying foods

I tried making mozzarella sticks before but they never turned out as well as these. These were so gooey and delicious, I barely got any before my family ate them all! More to be made soon!
