A fun homemade root beer drink that's great for parties or entertaining!

Homemade Root Beer

tsp Root beer Concentrate (or 1 TBS Root Beer Extract)

Sugar

dry ice

Add Rootbeer Concentrate, sugar and water into drink dispenser.

Stir for 2 minutes or more if not dissolved

Break dry ice into thirds.

Place first piece into rootbeer half an hour before serving

Periodically place remaining dry ice into drink dispenser as it starts it fog less.

CAUTION do not touch dry ice with bare skin, do not put dry ice into individual cups or allow pieces to fall into cups- you do NOT want it to touch any part of your body!!

Broken Dry Ice

In a large container add the cold water, sugar, and root beer extract.

Mix together until sugar starts to dissolve.

Add the dry ice to the mixture and stir frequently to prevent the dry ice from clumping.

Continue to stir until the dry ice has dissolved.

Follow these easy steps to enjoy your own homemade, foamy and delicious root beer.

Baker's yeast (such as Fleischmann's Active Dry Yeast)

liter plastic bottle (don’t forget the cap!)

Large funnel

When making root beer at home, it’s important to follow these steps in sequence.

Shake well to mix the yeast and sugar (don't forget to put the cap on!)

When you’re done shaking, take the cap off, hold the bottle upright and swirl slowly to bring the yeast/sugar mixture back to the bottom.

Place funnel back in and add 1 tablespoon of root beer extract.

Fill the bottle just half way with cold water.

Swirl the bottle again to mix the root beer extract and water with other ingredients.

Place funnel back in and add cold water (just about an inch shy of full).

Place cap on and shake gently until ingredients are dissolved.

Place your root beer mixture on a shelf at room temperature—not cold, not hot.

Let the root beer ferment for three or four days—you’ll know when it’s done if the bottle feels hard when you squeeze it. Make sure you check the bottle for hardness regularly.

When the bottle feels hard, place your root beer in the refrigerator to cool overnight.

Get out the ice cubes (or ice cream), serve, and enjoy!
