The classic peanut butter and jelly uncrustables you love, served up on whole wheat bread! Convenient, crustless sandwiches that you can make minutes and freeze for later.

PB&J Uncrustables on Wheat Bread

wheat bread,

peanut butter, crunchy

circular cookie/biscuit cutter + fork

Depending on the size of your bread, roll out gently with a rolling pin to ensure each slice is large enough to fit the shape of the sandwich cutter you plan to use.

On one slice of bread, add a dollop of peanut butter and spread into a circle or square shape. Spread a dollop of jelly on top. (No need to spread it all the way out to the edges of the bread—just cover about the size of the uncrustable that you plan to make.)

Place other slice of bread on top to assemble sandwich.

Use desired sandwich cutter shape to cut out your uncrustable and crimp the edges. (Or, use a circular cookie cutter and crimp the edges of the bread with a fork.)

Serve and enjoy immediately, or store in an airtight container or bag in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

To freeze, place all DIY uncrustables on a flat baking sheet and freeze for 2-3 hours. Once frozen, transfer into individual freezer-safe bags or containers and store in the freezer up to 2 months.

These make-ahead homemade uncrustables sandwiches are one of my most favorite kid-friendly lunch ideas for easy school lunches!  They are always a hit with the littles, and they also work great for car trips, vacations, picnics, and other events!

Using a sandwich sealer, biscuit/cookie cutter, or an...

Using a sandwich sealer, biscuit/cookie cutter, or an upside down cup or glass, cut out the center of the sandwich and remove outer crusts.  (If not using a sandwich sealer, crimp edges of sandwich with your fingers or a fork to seal.)

Center a sandwich sealer over both slices of bread. Press down on the outside cutter piece to trim away the crusts and move them aside. Then press down on the center sealing piece to seal the sandwich all the way around.

Lay the sandwiches out individually on a cookie sheet and flash freeze them for about two hours.

Transfer them to a large freezer Ziploc bag...

Transfer them to a large freezer Ziploc bag or package them up in individual Ziploc sandwich bags.

Sandwiches will thaw on their own by lunchtime, or you can put them in the microwave for 15 seconds to thaw.

If you have cheese and pepperoni, then you've got everything it takes to make these epic pizza uncrustables for lunch today!

Homemade Pizza Uncrustables

bread

tomato sauce

shredded cheese

pepperoni

carrot

apple (sliced)

Place the bread onto a flat surface and spread the tomato sauce onto the center of one slice. Top with cheese, pepperoni, and the remaining slice of bread.

Press the sandwich crimper or glass rim into the center of the sandwich, and remove the crusts.

Optional: grill the uncrustable in a lightly greased non-stick pan until both sides are golden. Remove from heat and allow it to cool down to room temperature.

Pack the uncrustable into a lunch container, making sure to keep it separate from the carrots and apple slices. Close the lunch container and pack it with an ice pack into a lunch bag.

We are loving these homemade pizza uncrustables at our house!
