Our favorite Pepper Jelly recipe is sweet and spicy (adjust heat to your preference) and delicious spooned over cream cheese, served with crackers for dipping. I&#039;ve also included instructions for canning and freezing.

Pepper Jelly

½ cups finely diced bell pepper

granulated sugar*

¼ cups white or apple cider vinegar

lime juice

salt

Certo liquid fruit pectin

Use a knife or a food processor to very finely chop the bell pepper. Scoop the diced peppers into paper towels and squeeze out excess liquid (this will help ensure the jelly sets up properly). Measure out 1 ½ cups of diced bell pepper (loose, not packed in the measuring cup).

Dice the jalapeños and squeeze the liquid out, in the same manner (I highly suggest wearing gloves when handling this many).

Add all of the diced peppers to a large, deep pot. Add sugar, vinegar, lime juice, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring often. Reduce heat, but maintain a boil and boil for 10 minutes.

Stir in the liquid pectin and boil for another minute. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes, then give a good stir (to evenly distribute the pepper pieces) and pour jelly into containers. Apply lids securely.

Optional: flip the containers upside down and allow to cool like this for 30 minutes or so (this will help keep the pepper pieces from floating to the top of the jar. Flip right side up and allow to cool at room temperature for 24 hours.

Refrigerate jalapeño jelly and enjoy within 10 days, or freeze for up to 4 months.

To Can Pepper Jelly: Pour jelly into sterilized jars. Wipe the rims of the jars clean and secure with rings and new lids that have been washed in warm soapy water. Process in a water bath canner for 10 minutes (or longer for high altitude—see notes above). Allow to sit at room temperature for 24 hours, then store in a cool dry place for 6-10 months.

This sweet, spicy Mango Jalapeño Pepper Jelly makes a lovely gift and is a fabulous appetizer served with crackers and spooned over goat or cream cheese. Check out our post for so many other ways to use it!

Mango Jalapeño Pepper Jelly

sugar

red bell pepper ((1 large or 2 small))

mango

apple (½ medium size apple (cored))

jalapeno peppers (with the seeds, finely chopped)

apple cider vinegar

butter

lemon juice

liquid pectin (1 packet

Combine the sugar, chopped bell pepper, mango, apple, jalapeño peppers, vinegar and butter in a large, heavy pot. Stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a boil and boil for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Towards the end of the 10 minutes, take a spoonful and allow jam to cool a bit. Taste and add additional jalapeño if you desire more heat.

Add the fresh lemon juice and pectin and return to a vigorous boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring continuously.

Remove from heat and ladle into clean jars.

Cover jars and allow to sit for 24 hours at room temperature. Setting will occur as the jam cools and sits. After 24 hours refrigerate or freeze.

If using the hot water canning method proceed with this after step 4 above but your jars need to be sterilized.

Jalapeño Pepper Jelly

Ingredients:

jalapeño pepper (very finely chopped)

green food coloring (optional)

Combine peppers, vinegar, and sugar in a large pot or dutch oven. Bring to a rolling boil and boil for one minute.

Remove from heat and add Certo and food coloring, if desired. Stir continuously for 1 minute. Skim any foam from surface.

Pour into jars, cover and allow to sit at room temperature for 24 hours, then freeze. If freezing jam makes sure to leave a 1/2 inch space at the top of the jar to allow for expansion in the freezer.

Alternatively, you can use the water bath method; after adding the Certo and stirring, pour your jam into sterilized jars and proceed as directed here.

A lower sugar jalapeño jelly with more peppers, a jam-like consistency, and sweetened only with honey. Use as a condiment, meat glaze, and appetizer with cream cheese on crackers.

Jalapeño Pepper Jelly Recipe for Canning or Freezing (Honey Sweetened)

Wash 7 to 8 half-pint (8-ounce) jars and keep warm until needed. Wash lids and rings in soapy water and set aside. Prepare boiling water canner.

Combine peppers and vinegar in a large stockpot, then gradually stir in the pectin.

Stirring constantly, bring mixture to a full rolling boil over high heat that can't be stirred down.

Add honey, bring back to a full boil and boil hard for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and skim foam if needed.

Ladle hot jelly into prepared, hot jars, one at a time leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Wipe rim, center lid on jar and attach ring, screwing just until fingertip-tight. Add to rack in canner.

Lower canning rack and process jars in canner for 10 minutes (timing after water comes to a boil with the jars submerged). Remove lid, turn off burner, and let jars sit in canner for 5 minutes.

Remove jars to a towel-lined surface to cool, undisturbed, for 24 hours. Remove rings, check seals and label with date before storing.

This is wonderful, I use it with and on just about everything. Great for eggroll dipping and as a pepper glaze for on chicken. I toss fresh fruit in the jam and serve as a desert side with a little kick, pineapple, peaches, grapes, strawberries etc. I prefer the soft set and have not had a failure yet. I call it sweet pepper sauce.

I have made several batches every year for the last 4 years. As I'm gathering my supplies for this year run I know I needed to tell you how much everybody I know begs for a jar of this for birthday &amp;Christmas presents. I never have to think about what to bring for potlucks or family get togethers, because everybody wants me to bring a jar of this for a condiment or appetizer. Thank you so much!
