This is a fun, festive, easy cake to make for celebrations!

Kit Kat Cake

chocolate cake mix

all purpose flour

white sugar

salt

water

vegetable or canola oil

vanilla extract

sour cream

eggs

(1 stick) salted butter

cream cheese, (at room temperature)

powdered sugar, (sifted)

milk

dark chocolate chips ((or chopped dark chocolate))

M&M's

Preheat the oven to 325°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans and line a cupcake pan with 6 liners (you're going to have 6 cupcakes to munch on along with your cake!)

In a large bowl, whisk together the cake mix, flour, sugar and salt. Add the remaining ingredients and beat with a hand mixer for 2 minutes, or until well blended.

Scoop the batter into 6 cupcake liners 3/4-full. Divide the remaining batter between the two prepared round pans. Bake the cupcakes for about 25 minutes, and bake the cake rounds 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pans for 20 minutes, then remove the cake layers to a wire rack to cool completely.

When the cake is cool, you're ready to assemble. Place one layer on a serving plate, and tuck strips of waxed paper underneath the sides of the cake.

PREPARE THE CAKE:

In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating at low speed until blended. Increase speed to medium, and slowly add milk and vanilla, beating until smooth. Microwave chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl at MEDIUM 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring at 30 second intervals. Gradually add melted chocolate to mixture; beat until blended and smooth.

PREPARE THE FROSTING:

Frost the 1st cake layer. Set the 2nd layer on top of the first. Frost the 2nd layer and along the sides of the cake too. Stick Kit Kat's to the sides of the cake, leaving a very small space in between each Kit Kat (1/4-inch). Wrap a bow around the cake, securing the Kit Kat's. Fill the top of the cake with M&amp;M's. Pull out the strips of waxed paper and discard. Use any extra frosting to frost your 6 extra cupcakes.

If you refrigerate the cake for a couple of hours or so, it will be much easier to cut and serve. Of course, you'll need to remove the bow just before serving.

How to Make a Kit Kat Cake

Peppa Pig Birthday Cake

cocoa powder ((like Hershey's))

vanilla

baking powder

baking soda

chocolate chips

cream cheese, room temperature

butter, room temperature

Kit Kat Bars ((about 52 individual kit kat pieces))

green food coloring

candied flowers (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with cooking spray and line the bottoms of the pans with parchment paper rounds. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk the cocoa powder and boiling water until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.

In a large bowl, add the eggs, oil, sour cream, and vanilla and beat with a hand mixer until smooth, about a minute. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to the wet ingredients and and gently fold in the dry ingredients. With hand mixer on low, slowly pour in the cocoa/water mixture until combined, using a rubber spatula to finish mixing together the ingredients. 

Divide batter between prepared pans (a kitchen scale is great to ensure equal amounts). Sprinkle in 1/3 cup of chocolate chips into each of the pans. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in middle of cake comes out clean. Transfer to baking racks and let cool for 10 minutes before removing cakes from pan to cool completely. Once completely cooled, transfer to freezer for 10 minutes to harden slightly. 

Meanwhile, prepare the frosting. In a stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment, or in a large bowl with a hand mixer, cream together the cream cheese and butter until creamy, about 3 minutes. Add in the powdered sugar and mix until well combined. Remove about 1/2 cup of the frosting to a small bowl with a couple drops of green food coloring, stir and set aside. Add the cocoa powder to the remaining large batch of frosting and mix until fluffy, about a mintue.

Place the bottom layer of cake on the cake pedestal and trim to flatten the top. Add a scoop of the chocolate frosting and spread to about 1/4 inch thickness. Add on the top layer of cake and frost the remaining cake, including the sides, reserving about a tablespoon of the chocolate frosting.

Break apart the Kit Kat bars to four individual pieces. Stick the bars to the side of the cake until entire cake is covered.

Spread the remaining tablespoon of chocolate frosting in the middle of the cake to look like a muddy puddle. Position the figurines around the puddle.

Place the green frosting in an icing bag fitted with a grass tip. Pipe on &quot;grass&quot; around the top edge of the cake and use decorative edible flowers if desired.
