Candied Lemon Slices are super easy and a delicious way to decorate your favorite lemon foods.  These lemon slices are so good you may just eat them before they get a chance to be decoration!

Candied Lemon Slices

lemons (sliced thin)

Cups Water

Cups sugar

Wash and dry the lemons. Using a very sharp knife, slice them as thin as possible, removing the seeds as you go. If you have a mandolin, this will get your slices very thin and even.

In a wide pot or deep, wide pan, add the water and the sugar. Stirring frequently, bring to a boil. Once all the sugar has dissolved, reduce heat to low and simmer. Add the lemon slices and keep the spread out in the simple syrup.

Simmer the lemon slices for about an hour, unil the rind and pith start to turn translucent. Once translucent, remove them from the syrup onto a parchment lined sheet pan

You can air dry the lemons for about 24-48 hours, flipping them over halfway through but they will still remain sticky to the touch. Another option is to set your oven as low as possible and let the lemons dry in the oven, which will result in less sticky candied lemons. Check them and flip  them frequently so they don’t burn. If they begin to get dark or turn brown, remove them from the oven. They will require a good 1-2 hours in the oven to fully dry.

Once finished, you can use your candied lemons as a garnish for desserts, or simply eat them plain. The syrup may be saved and used to flavor drinks, or discarded.

They can be soft or crunchy, baked or fried or left as is. They can be sweet or savory, half open or closed. Upto you... I make it half open...with custard filling and whipped cream

all purpose flour

semolina (soiji/ rava)

tbsp sugar

tbsp milk Powder

tsp baking powder

yeast

water

tbsp custard powder

tbsp corn starch

milk

walnuts

tsp powder sugar

rose water (just mix all things together)

Thick cream

Hanged cheese cheese

Just mix all

sugar

rose water

Take All purpose flour,semolina, milk powder, sugar,yeast in a bowl and whisk it well

Now add water in it and make a smooth paste.cover it with plastic wrap and let it sit for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes it will rise remove plastic wrap and mix it well again.better to blend it in a blender.

Now take 1scoop of better and add in a non stick pan.when bubbles starts remove it from pan and cover with any towel or cloth.make 15 small qateyef with this better.

For filling.take 1cup milk,add custard powder,corn flour and mix it let this mixture to boil.then add sugar in it and cook it untill it becomes thick in consistency.as shown in picture.

Now add custard filling in white side of qatayef and brown side should be out. close it half with the help of fingers.as shown in picture.

You can also used whipped cream or hanged cheese along with thick cream.chopped walnuts and pistachios also use for filling...

Make sugar syrup. add 1/2 cup of sugar and 3/4 cup water in pan bring it to boil then add 2 lemon slice and 1tbsp of rose water in it.when it becomes thick in consistency.remove it from flame.

Add sugar syrup on the top while serving.... sprinkle chopped pistachios..

5-Ingredient Lemon Bars With Condensed Milk

g oat biscuits

butter

ml lemon juice (from approx. 1.5 lemons)

eggs (medium)

Preheat the oven to 160°C Fan. Line a small baking tray or a loaf tin with baking parchment.

In a large mixing bowl, crush oat biscuits with the end of a rolling pin. Add melted butter and mix well. Tip the mixture into a tray and press down with a back of the spoon. Make sure it gets into all four corners of the tin. Bake for 10 minutes.

In the meantime, whisk condensed milk, lemon juice and eggs with an electric whisk until fully combined and volume slightly increased (about 2-3 minutes).

Pour the lemon mixture on top of the baked oat biscuit base and return to the oven for 15-20 minutes, until the filling sets.

Once baked, cool completely at room temperature. Then chill for at least two hours in the fridge before slicing and decorating with icing sugar and lemon zest, if you wish.

Absolutely delicious! Like a cheesecake but way easier to make and MUCH cheaper! I added frozen raspberries along with the fresh lemon juice and served with vanilla ice cream, everyone loved it!
