Litti Chokha Recipe: How to make Litti Chokha Recipe at Home | Homemade Litti Chokha Recipe - Times Food

whole wheat

black gram flour

mustard oil

salt

lemon juice

nigella seeds

thymol seeds

ginger grated

coriander leaves

Numbers green chilli chopped

Numbers eggplant/ brinjal

tomato

garlic

pickle masala

To prepare the dough, take a mixing bowl and add wheat flour, mustard oil and a pinch of salt. Add some water and knead a soft dough.

To prepare the filling, take a bowl and mix sattu (black gram flour), pickle masala, mustard oil, lemon juice, kalonji, ginger, coriander leaves, green chillies, and salt together. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Now divide the dough, flatten to the desired size and place a spoonful of the filling. Close the dough by the edges and roll it into a ball.

Put these balls on a baking tray and bake. Then flip to the other side and bake till it is cooked properly. Put your oven on broil mode for 2-3 minutes turning both sides to get a crisp covering.

Now to prepare the chokha, wash, dry and slit the brinjal. Put an aluminium foil on the baking tray and place the brinjal and tomatoes on top. Roast them on broil mode or highest temperature. Once done, peel the brinjal and tomatoes and then mash them well. Transfer these into a bowl. Add garlic, salt, mustard oil, lemon juice, green chillis and chopped green coriander leaves in the bowl. Mix the ingredients well and the chokha is ready to be served.

Transfer the chokha to a serving bowl. Dip the litti balls in some melted ghee and place along with the chokha. You can also serve this dish with some kadhi or chicken/mutton curry. Enjoy the burst of flavours of this authentic Bihari delicacy, rate it and let us know how it turned out to be.

Litti Chokha Recipe

Whole Wheat Flour

Salt

tbsp Ghee

Cooking Soda

Sattu

tbsp Mustard Oil

tsp Ginger (Grated)

tsp Green Chilli (Finely Chopped)

tbsp Fresh Coriander (Finely Chopped)

tbsp Pickle Masala

Lemon

tsp Red Chilli Powder

Brinjal (Large)

Tomato (Medium)

Onion (Chopped)

tsp Green Chilli (Chopped)

tbsp Fresh Coriander (Chopped)

Add whole wheat flour, salt, ghee and cooking soda in a  bowl and mix well.

Add water and knead to make a medium soft dough.

Cover the dough and keep aside for 30 minutes.

For Litti

Add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Add some more oil if the filling is too dry.

You should be able to bind the filling in your fist.&nbsp;

For the Filling

Take out a large lemon sized dough and make it into a ball.

Roll the dough ball to make a 4-5 inch circle.

Keep 2 tbsp of filling in the centre of the dough and bring the ends together.

Nicely seal the ends.

Make all the lit in the same manner.

Keep the litti covered with a cloth.

Pre heat an oven to 180 degrees C.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until browned from the top.

Flip the litti upside down and bake for another 10-12 minutes.

They should be evenly browned from all the sides.

Hold the litti with a  tong and roast them over direct flame so that brown spots appears all over them.
