Cream

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line two baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper and set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars with beaters. Mix for 1-2 minutes, or until creamy and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix just until combined.

Add the flour, baking soda and salt and mix just until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and M&amp;M’s. Refrigerate dough for 15 to 30 minutes if time allows.

Scoop

Using a large cookie scoop (about 3 Tablespoons), scoop the cookie dough onto the baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Place any extra chocolate chips or M&amp;M’s on the top of the cookies if desired.

Bake

Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until the edges are barely golden brown. Allow cookies to set on pan for 2-3 minutes, and then remove to a cooling rack.

Our go-to Christmas Cookie recipe! Soft and chewy cookies that are filled with M&amp;M&#039;s and sprinkles.

all purpose flour (see note)

baking powder

salt

unsalted butter (softened but still cool)

brown sugar (lightly packed, make sure it's fresh and soft)

holiday sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, using a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter and both sugars for 1-2 minutes, until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed. On low speed, add in flour mixture and mix until just combined.

Gently stir in M&amp;M&#039;s and chocolate chips. I usually add about 1 generous cup into the batter, and the rest get pressed on top of the cookies before baking.

Place the sprinkles in a shallow bowl.

Scoop balls of cookie dough, between 1½ and 2½ tablespoon portions. Gently press a few M&amp;M&#39;s onto the top of each dough ball then press the top of each ball into the bowl of sprinkles. You can bake the cookies right away (they&#39;ll be on the thinner side) or chill the dough balls in the fridge for about 15 minutes to ensure they bake up with a nice thickness.

Place dough onto prepared baking sheets leaving an inch or two for spreading. I like to make sure the dough balls are mounded higher rather than wider so that the cookies aren&#39;t too thin.

Bake for 8-11 minutes (see note), until the edges of the cookies are set but the center is still slightly underdone; this will create a soft cookie. See note about shaping the cookies as soon as they come out of the oven.

Place the baking sheets on wire racks and allow the cookies to cool completely. They will firm up as they cool.

These were amazing. Best recipe I've found for m&amp;m chocolate chip cookies. I doubled the recipe and made them all about a tablespoon and a half so I got them all close to the same size. That made about 4 dozen. I think this makes less than other typical recipes though. My other cookie recipe makes 5 1/2 to 6 dozen for a double batch. I'm not complaining but I wanted to put it out there for people who are expecting more cookies for double batches. I know it's listed at the top about how many it makes but sometimes people don't always pay attention. I used mini Christmas m&amp;m's too. Way easier to work with and mix into the batter by hand lol. I definitely recommend refrigerating your dough to prevent spreading like indicated. Butter melts fast otherwise and that's why cookies spread and come out super flat and funky shaped and smooshed together with other cookies.

I have made these annually for a few years now (one batch made as gifts, a second batch made with my kids for Santa). They're fun, easy, festive, and tasty. Thanks for so many great memories and more to come.

These are the best M&amp;M cookies I've ever made. Most recipes turn out a flat cookie. These are a nice soft cookie that doesn't flatten out when cooled and they taste great.

They were hit this Christmas definitely gonna make them again
