The perfect tequila-lime cocktail — a combo margarita and mojito in one drink, with fresh lime and mint. Cool and refreshing!

Tequila Lime Mojitarita Cocktail

mint leaves (plus more for garnish)

lime juice

sugar

silver tequila

Cold soda water water

lime

Tear the mint leaves into pieces and put 1/2 cup into a cocktail shaker with 1/4 cup lime juice, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 4 ounces tequila. Add crushed ice and shake well.

Strain over ice into high ball glasses and top off with soda water. Garnish with mint leaves and lime slices.

Empty the shaker and repeat the steps to make the remaining 2 drinks.

This delicious variation on a classic margarita uses mezcal, a smoky Mexican spirit, instead of tequila. An unusual syrup called orgeat adds some sweetness and complexity to this easy cocktail.

Coconut Mezcal Margarita

oz mezcal (I used Vida by Del Maguey)

oz canned coconut milk

oz orgeat

oz lime juice (freshly squeezed)

serrano pepper (optional) (sliced)

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Pour all of the ingredients except for the slices of serrano pepper into a cocktail shaker.

Shake until chilled (1-2 minutes).

Double strain into a short glass filled with ice.

Garnish with a slice of serrano pepper and serve immediately.

Eigenlijk maar drie ingrediënten. Of misschien vier, als je het beroemde zoutrandje meetelt. Juist daarom is het belangrijk om tequila van goede kwaliteit te kiezen. Net als een temperamentvolle latino verbergt deze cocktail zijn buien namelijk niet.

Margarita

45 ml tequila

ml triple sec

ml limoensap

Schijfje limoen

Optioneel: suikersiroop

Zout

Shaker

Martiniglas

Maak de rand van je glas nat met een partje limoen en dip de helft van het glas in een schoteltje zout . Zo kan je proeven en als het zout niet lekker is gewoon van de andere kant drinken.

Doe de tequila, triple sec en het limoensap in je shaker met ijs. Shake hard.

Schenk je Margarita zonder ijs in  je glas. Liever iets zoeter? Voeg dan een scheutje suikersiroop toe.

Garneer met een schijfje limoen  op de rand van je glas
