Chicken Tikka Masala

chicken breasts

masala paste (recipe follows)

yogurt

tomato puree

heavy cream (sub a 14-ounce can of regular coconut milk)

salt

rice and cilantro

onions (about 3 cups when chopped)

garlic

ginger

garam masala

chili powder, turmeric, and cumin

cloves

cayenne pepper

cilantro

lemon

MASALA PASTE

Pulse all ingredients into a food processor until smooth. Set aside about 1/4 cup of the paste for this recipe &#8211; freeze the rest for your next batch! Boom!

Chicken Tikka Masala Step 1

MARINATE CHICKEN

Cut the chicken into bite sized pieces. Marinate with 1-2 tablespoons of masala paste and the yogurt for about 30 minutes in the fridge.

COOK CHICKEN

Heat a large, deep nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil. Cook the chicken in batches, undisturbed, until each piece is nice and browned on the outside. Remove from pan and set aside. (Chicken does not need to be fully cooked at this point.)

SAUCE

Add 2-3 tablespoons of masala paste to the same skillet. Stir fry for a few minutes. Add the tomato puree and browned chicken; simmer for 10-15 minutes. (Chicken should now be fully cooked.)

FINISH

Stir in cream or coconut milk. Season with salt. Let stand for a while so the sauce will thicken up a bit. Serve over rice with cilantro. HEAVEN.

Looks like you are using 1/4 cup of masala paste in the 5-ingredient recipe.   About how many 1/4 cup servings of the paste do  you end up with if you make the paste recipe as listed?

The veggie meatballs with the masala sauce were awesome!  My entire family loved them.  They froze great.

Chicken Tikka Masala – creamy, perfectly spicy, and ready in 30 minutes! you won’t believe how easy it is to make this at home!

I love Indian cooking so let&#039;s make some homemade masala paste today! This spice paste is a great base for my masala meatball curry.

Masala Paste

onion

2- inch fresh ginger ((5 cm), peeled)

tbsp garam masala

tsp chili powder

½ tsp ground turmeric (or curcuma)

tsp cumin

coriander powder

tomato paste

almonds ((peeled))

tbsp grated coconut

vegetable oil ((60 ml))

water

Add all the ingredients except for the vegetable oil to a blender.

Pulse the ingredients for about 15 seconds. Scrape down the sides. Pulse again. Do this a couple of times until the mixture is quite crumbly, especially the almonds. Then add the vegetable oil.

Press pulse again. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and pulse again. Repeat this again for a couple of times until the paste is quite smooth. Don’t worry if there’s still some chunks of onion or almonds in it. Then check the seasoning and add extra chili powder or salt to taste if necessary. The paste should be fairly moist but sticky. Add extra oil or water if the mixture is too dry.
