Out of jarred marinara sauce? You&#039;ll never need to buy it again when you have this easy recipe using canned tomato paste plus a few pantry ingredients. It&#039;s not only economical, it&#039;s incredibly delicious.

15 Minute Tomato Paste Pasta Sauce

olive oil

garlic (minced)

tomato paste ((6 ounces))

water

Italian seasoning ((or substitute dried oregano

bay leaf

salt and pepper (to taste)

splash balsamic vinegar ((See notes.))

pasta (for serving)

parsley

Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Stir in the tomato paste, water, Italian seasoning, and bay leaf.

Bring to a low boil, then lower the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Discard the bay leaf. Season the sauce with salt and pepper, to taste. Add in a splash of balsamic vinegar and stir to combine.

Toss with cooked pasta. Garnish with fresh Italian parsley or basil, if desired.

Lentil Bolognese

oz Tagliatelle pasta

oz Brown lentils (canned)

Tbsp Olive oil

Onion (medium sized)

Garlic

Carrots (medium)

Celery

Sieved tomato puree aka Tomato sauce

Tbsp Tomato paste

Red wine

Tbsp Soy sauce (tamari

tsp Parsley

tsp Thyme (dried)

tsp Basil

Salt and Pepper to taste

Cook pasta according to packaging instructions.

Peel and chop onion, garlic, and celery stalk.

Peel and grate carrot.

Prepare the ingredients

Take a non-stick saucepan and add olive oil. On medium heat, saute onions for 2-3 minutes.

Add grated carrots, chopped celery stalks and garlic. Season with parsley, thyme, basil, salt and black pepper. Stir well and cook on medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes. It may stick to the bottom of the pan sometimes. Scrape it up with your wooden spatula, this will give more flavor to your sauce.

Add red wine and cook until it&#039;s almost entirely evaporated. Stir it from time to time.

Add tomato paste, soy sauce, and tomato puree. Stir well. Check for seasoning and add more salt and black pepper if needed. Bring to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add the drained lentils. Stir well and cook for another 2 minutes.
