How to make tomato mozzarella salad - a classic fresh Italian layered tomato and mozzarella salad with basil and a simple olive oil and (optional) balsamic dressing. This Caprese salad is perfect for serving as an appetizer or side!

Tomato Mozzarella Salad (Caprese)

lb tomatoes (vine-ripened heirloom

oz fresh mozzarella (high-quality)

olive oil (Extra virgin)

basil

salt (or

pepper

Tbsp balsamic vinegar/glaze (optional)

Gather your tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. Slice the tomatoes into even slices with a sharp knife or mandoline and then chop (or tear) the mozzarella and gather basil leaves and arrange them in your dish. You can do this as little stacks, layer around a dish (as I have), or even stack on their side in a small dish - it&#039;s up to you.You could even keep the mozzarella whole in the center of the plate, surrounded by tomato slices.

Step 1: Chop/tear the Ingredients

Drizzle the salad with olive oil and salt and pepper (to taste) and then, optionally, add a drizzle of balsamic, too.

Then allow it to sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the tomato juice and oil to combine and 'marinate' at the bottom of the salad – for even better flavor!

Step 2: Add the Seasonings

This Tomato Cucumber Mozzarella Salad recipe was inspired by a classic Caprese salad. It has fresh tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, and Mozzarella cheese, tossed with a simple balsamic dressing.

Tomato Cucumber Mozzarella Salad (VIDEO)

cucumber

cherry tomatoes (halved)

mozzarella

avocado (diced)

basil leaves (chopped)

Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Tbsp balsamic vinegar

garlic

tsp fine sea salt (plus more to taste)

tsp black pepper

Place the cucumber, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, avocado, and basil into a serving bowl.

In a separate bowl, whisk the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper together until combined.

Just before serving, drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss to combine and serve.

This will go great with a family favorite, Persian Fesenjan and Naan Yummo

Hi Natasha! We absolutely loves this salad, but the balsamic vinegar made it look darker, is that how it’s supposed to look or did I use the wrong one?

With the price of dining out, we are cooking far more! Barbecuing burgers tonight and THIS salad, instead of making fries. My darn avocado was dead, so we made it without and still, super tasty!!!

Make a beautiful and easy Italian Caprese Salad in 10 minutes, with the best quality ingredients, and the end result is perfection!

Caprese Salad

mozzarella cheese (sliced into medium thin slices)

basil leaves

Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (,

flakey sea salt (,

Use a sharp serrated knife to slice the mozzarella and tomato into about 1/4 inch thick (or thicker if you like) slices.

Grab a large plate and alternately add tomato and mozzarella slices, slightly overlapping.

Drizzle a little bit of good quality extra virgin olive oil on top. Sprinkle basil over the top, or tuck smaller leaves throughout. Garnish with flakey sea salt and fresh cracked pepper if you&#39;d like.

Nice explanation and tips for assembling this dish. I would always bring something like this for a potluck or holiday party when I worked at a hospital. Some bozo would ask me for the recipe every damn time. 
It was hard to even give a reasonable response.
